Anyone has experience with Blaser R8?

Plan on using a different scope with each barrel. Theoretically, a super quality scope could be moved between barrels and pre-determined sighting changes dialed in (I would not attempt that with a Tasco). I am perfectly happy travelling with one rifle, two barrels and their respective scopes.

I used to get by using one scope (Zeiss) between my 22-250 and 308 barrels before I sold the 22-250. It worked well, but can't do that with my 375 barrel as the notches in the barrel are marginally different in size. It may be that the thickness of the finish on the barrel is slightly different and that would be enough as the scope mounts must fit tight. R8 is a perfect travel rifle, breaks up very easy and fits in a small bag.

Also R8 is super easy to clean as you can take the barrel out and not worry about cleaning products leaking through the action.

I understand. But didn't you have to re adjust the scope in moving it to a different barrel even if the bases did fit? For instance, the bases fit between my Blaser S2 500-450 and .375 barrels and so the same scope could be used on either. However, the 100 yard zero is significantly different requiring either a lot of faith in remembered settings, or a re-zero when switching barrels.

From memory 3 clicks up 2 clicks right and it's spot on.

Wish I could, it sounds fun. But I'm in SE Indiana, and with summer classes I don't even get Wyatt many call a "day off".

I need to get a scope with 30 mm tube still, as well. Which wouldn't be a problem, if I'd been able to sell those other two guns.... I'm still hurting from this non-offset purchase.
But no remorse! I know it'll be one that stays in the family a very long time

The muscle memory of a lifetime would be very difficult to overcome. When it comes to guns boring is good

Moving right along! I got this Nikon Prostaff 7 today. I think this is the biggest/longest scope I've ever owned. I expect it'll get me through any and all hunting adventures I could plan. Maybe next year I can squeeze in a sheep hunt up and down some canyons....

Just be aware - they are very addictive! I know - I have an R8 Proffessional and 4 barrels now

Very practical guns and I love the fact that one can quite safely walk with one in the chamber & action decocked.

I'm getting antsy for Friday next. Finally going to give it a try. I will be needing some variety though. I took a survey yesterday and all my rifles are either .22 or .30 caliber, plus one 375 Ruger. I need diversity!

Had two R8 with a couple of barrels - sold all of that. Accuracy was good, but these rifles are put together without love - and you can feel it when you grab it. If you take a Heym, its so well put together and you feel that real craftsmen were in the building process.

I have three brands of guns to recommend - Heym, Strasser and Sako! Well made, and worthy.

But not to rate the Blaser bad - it works as it should and is accurate, but not my "thing"! The proportions on the R93 were better - was more balanced "for me", but not as strong as the R8 (and that brought me to the R8).

Would hunt with an R8 immediately, cause it's a good rifle - but if I have a choice...

Make shure the surface where the barrel is in contact with receiver/action is DRY - no lubricant should be there!
