Anyone actually weigh their firearms to compare to advertised weights?

Had the scale out today and weighed a bunch of my guns for the first time to see where they clocked in, a few didn't weigh as advertised. This will be useful when calculating felt recoil values.

Merkel Double in 470NE with LPVO - Was told 11.5lbs, actual weight was 12.5lbs. (Should be good for soaking up recoil)

CZ550 in 416 Rigby, advertised as 9.3lbs naked, Actual weight was10.7lbs with scope and LPVO. (Still has a decent amount of recoil at this weight).

CZ550 in 375HH, advertised as 9.3lbs naked, Actual weight was 9.6lbs (very manageable)

Model 70 in 458 WM, advertised as 9.0lbs, Actual weight was 8.6lbs (explains the recoil++)

I'm planning on taking the LPVO off the double and topping it on the 458 to add a little extra weight.

Have you weighed your DG rifles and found any surprises?

I have weighed some of mine that are advertised as lightweight. All are a little over their reported weight.

I bought a Rem XCR II in 375 in 2011 was supposed to weigh 7.4 lbs. Weighed it on a postal scale. It weighs 7.5 lbs with Tallery Steel QR rings and Leupold 2-7x Firedot scope. I was a little nervous about how hard ti would kick, but it's a pussycat.

No, I haven’t.
Interesting point as it it’s on the data sheet of most models and I usually read a lot of comparisons etc before I buy anything.
I guess I took it for granted

I've weighed quite a few of them. All of my custom builds get weighed, both bare and ready to hunt, mainly because I always have a target weight when selecting components and want to see how I did.

I'll also weigh firearms that seem surprisingly light or heavy to me. At one point, I owned a Mossberg 935 that, IIRC, was advertised as 7.75 lbs. It seemed quite a bit heavier than that, so I weighed it..... almost 9 lbs. Since it also swung like a 2X6, it went down the road. The Versamax also didn't make its advertised weight, but not quite as far over. My Benelli's have been very close to their advertised weights.

Years ago I worked in a high end sporting goods store. There was this neurotic guy that would come in with a scale and want to weigh guns. He always questioned why they may be off a few ounces. (Wood density). Drove us all nuts. He finally bought a shotgun after about 3 years of anguish, his and ours.

Haha, I assure you that guy was not me.

My Merkel 500 N.E comes in at 10.6lbs.... very interesting to see the 470 coming in heavier.

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary

Booked with Harold Grinde - Gana River - they sure kill some good ones - who'd you get set up with?
