AH Get Together In Dallas During Dallas Safari Club (DSC) Convention 2019

well seems will be coming to dallas after sci.........so will try to sort payment when i manage to get decent cell signal so i can get my card unblocked..........:mad:
 
Looks like things will work out with the work schedule and I'll be able to make it! I'll work on the dinner confirmation soon!

The sponsors offset some of the costs of the event which are not passed on to the members who come. The prices at the venue went up 25% across the board from last year. Those prices include the private room charge, classic table service, the food, the waitstaff and bartenders plus a service charge at 20%. We also have to pay for security and extra hours for most of the staff because our group likes to stay late. Also taxes and fees.

FWIW every year I look into other venues and this is the best one in terms of location (proximity to the convention center) and economics. Additionally, it takes time and effort to put together an event like this, it does not happen by itself...

The get together used to be at a restaurant but we have outgrown that sort of venue, when you start looking at these bigger venues it gets expensive real fast especially in prime location close to the convention center and especially when a big convention like DSC is in town.

I wanted to get an outside caterer this year and they wanted to charge me 25% more for going outside plus double the room rate. Also if we don't hit a certain number of people coming I'm under contract and I have to pay no matter what.

Year after year the event is always fun. It's a really good group of people who are happy to meet friends from the site in person and have a good evening together.
 
Great - glad we're in! Jerome - Your Happy Hour at SCI last February was really a lot of fun. Met some wonderful folks with shared interests. Karen and I are going to DSC instead of SCI this year and hoped you would host some sort of event. As far as we are concerned $50 / person is a bargain for a dinner like this in the middle of Dallas on a Friday night. We are really looking forward to the event and visiting with more AH sponsors and posters this year. Regards, Steve

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
