Flying with my 19 year old son to RSA this summer. We would both like to take 375's, is he of legal to transport a rifle in the US and RSA? If so, can it be in the same lockable case with mine? Will two guns of the same caliber cause issues?
You can take both rifles in one case under your name ... if only two rifles are going. Most airlines will only allow two guns per person (some will take three). That would be the best solution.
Yeah, I think that is the problem. Kind of in a bind either way you go. I think the age of 19 is an impediment, as is temporarily importing two rifles of the same chambering (by one person).I think two rifles of the same caliber for one person is a no.
I also think two rifles of the same caliber for two different people in one case is asking for trouble.
I’ve been told at least some pre-approved permits have been issued for 2 rifles of same caliber. If it’s pre-approved you are good. I would not risk landing and trying to have permit issued on the spot though.Yeah, I think that is the problem. Kind of in a bind either way you go.
