African Sunset Pictures

Was just at far end of takeri and thought I would be artistic...then saw what looks like a face on the photos... :A Thumbs Up:

My African sunset photo. The photo itself really isn't all that great, though it looked much better first hand. However, some perspective to the beauty it holds for me. It was my last night in Africa. If you're a football fan it was literally a 4th and long with under ten seconds left in the 4th quarter, and a FG wasn't going to cut it. We spent a long couple of hours following a herd of kudu through thick stuff, hoping that one bull was a "management" bull. After he disappeared over a cliff, we sprinted the last several hundred yards. I would note that Wik (my PH) is 28 and in phenomenal shape. Me? 54 and something less than his level of conditioning. I was shaking and gasping when he threw up the sticks, pointed out the bull, and told me to shoot (steep downhill angle). Fortunately, the distance wasn't terrible (150 yards) and my shot was true, and he was down in a matter of seconds. The other two photos to the right... those were maybe 15 minutes before the sunset photo with me in it. I have been blessed to see some incredible sunsets in my life (living in Alaska). This is easily one of my favorites, thanks to not just Africa's beauty, but the context surrounding it. Sorry for being long-winded.

Spitzkoppe, Namibia. October 2020. Took a break from leopard hunting to go here- must see location while in Namibia!!

In Livingstone for new year ...and went out late afternoon on the lodges boat....halfway a thunderstorm kicked in...but after sitting against the bank trying to shelter a bit....I poured myself a gin and tonic sundowner...and obviously not wanting to piss me off the gods decided to turn off the taps and bring the sun out in time for my drinks...so here a few from on way back.... :E Big Grin: :A Thumbs Up::E Big Grin:

Nugget here. A guide gave me the nickname as I looked similar to Nugent at the time. Hunting for over 50 years yet I am new to hunting in another country and its inherent game species. I plan to do archery. I have not yet ruled out the long iron as a tag-along for a stalk. I am still deciding on a short list of game. Not a marksman but better than average with powder and string.
