A Question for Democrats.

You ask me who I am voting for after the primaries. Not being enthralled with either candidate I reply that I will probably write in a name not connected with either party’s candidate. You tell me that I am sexist for not voting for Hillary. I reply I don’t feel sexist. I love and adore my wife, daughter, and mother and would do anything for them and want the best for them. You tell me that does not count. They are family and I am sexist if I won’t vote for Hillary. I say I don’t feel comfortable that Hillary wants to put coal miners out of work. I don’t feel comfortable that she may have used her influence to try and put a phosphorus mine in Florida out of business while accepting $20+ million to legitimize a competitor’s phosphorus mine in Morocco. I don’t feel comfortable that she allowed the selloff of 20% off America’s uranium reserves to Russia to enrich herself and her husband. I also say I am not happy that she used her personal server, and it may have exposed confidential American secrets to foreign governments. I say I am happy to discuss all of these things with you further. You call me a misogynist and walk away.

You ask if I care for the environment, and I reply yes. I believe in clean air, water, and I recycle. You ask me to sign your climate change ballot. I say I am not convinced about climate change. I say we know that the world has been close to being covered in ice before, and the earth has been warm enough to support mega fauna and flora north of the Arctic Circle. We are coming out of a major ice age 11,000 years ago. You say I am a moron. I ask you if warming causes co2 or if co2 causes warming. You tell me co2 causes global warming. I ask why ice core samples show co2 lagging warming trends by approximately 800 years. You tell me I am stupid and tell me all the scientists say it is a fact. I say the scientific method is great. A person makes a hypothesis then tests it. If things go as expected other scientist can take their shot at it. You don’t need a consensus of scientists to disprove something. Under the scientific method, one person with proof can do it. You tell me I don’t know what I am talking about and that everyone knows that climate change is real. The media tells us so! I respond that when I am vehemently force-fed information and told that something is settled that I tend to be skeptical and want to figure things out for myself. You tell me I am a stupid moron and a denier. I say, lets discuss this, and ask you how sun spot patterns may relate to global warming. You ignore me, smirk in your self-righteousness, call me incorrigible and walk away.

Due to faults I see with Hillary Clinton, I consider voting for Trump. You tell me I am deplorable and irredeemable. I am human and a sinner, so I agree; I am deplorable. Irredeemable, I have a hard time with. I believe in a God who says I am redeemable. You laugh at my shallowness and lack of enlightenment and walk away.

You ask if I am for securing the borders. I say that I am in favor of enforcing all laws. If a law isn’t good then get rid of it. You tell me I am racist. I say I don’t feel racist. Many of the people I work with and go to church with are minorities. I get along with them great. I tell you that occasionally I am involved in a social service project in the intercity and give money for missions in third world countries. You tell me that I don’t even realize how pathetic of a racist I am. You tell me it would be much better to give my money to the United Nations or USAid. Places that know what they are doing with money. You shake your head at my racism and incompetence and walk away.

You ask me how I feel about letting Muslims into the country. I say if they are properly vetted it would be okay, but it might be easier if they go to other Middle East countries where the climate, language, culture and religion are similar. The USA could even help pay for their transition. While I don’t run into many Muslims on a daily basis, I try to treat all people fairly. You call me a bigot. I don’t feel like a bigot. I ask you how the crime rate in Europe is doing with the free flow of un-vetted Muslims in the last couple of years. You call me a xenophobe. I try to respond but you will not hear me out and you walk away.

You ask me if I am pro LGBT. I reply that I am heterosexual and have been happily married to my wife for years. While I don’t understand the LGBT thing, I always try to treat people with respect and decency. If an individual with a LGBT bumper sticker had a flat in my town, there is a good chance I would stop and help them change it. You reply that I don’t even realize that I am a homophobe and intolerant, then you walk away.

You ask if I believe in gun control. I respond no. You ask if I have guns and I reply yes. I enjoy hunting and eating the wildlife I shoot. You tell me what a pathetic person I am for killing defenseless animals and say I am a warmonger. I say I don’t feel like a warmonger. I just believe in protecting my family and myself. You say guns kill people and I shouldn’t have any. I say most all my neighbors have guns and if something bad happened in the neighborhood we would all protect each other. Not much crime happens in our neighborhood or town. I ask how the gun control laws are working in Chicago, where they have gun control. You call me a warmongering bigot, and tell me, the government should take my guns away and you hope I shoot myself and walk away.

You ask me where I get my news. I respond that I’m not enthralled with any news station, but probably get most of my news from FOX or an internet blog. You tell me I am brainwashed and that FOX is biased. I agree that FOX is biased, but so are the major networks, NPR and the cable news outlets. You tell me I am uneducated and don’t understand how the world really is, then you walk away.

You ask where I am from and I tell you Middle America. You call me an uninformed uneducated redneck. You say that since I am a white man, I can’t even comprehend the extent of white privilege I have and how I lord over women and minorities. You tell me that I don’t even realize what a pathetic human being I am. Not having an education from the right schools or believing I have anything intelligent to say, you shake your head and walk away.

You continually walk away, disgusted with me, not allowing me to have a dialogue with you. On November 8th, I was finally able to tell you how I feel. Will you listen, and have a conversation with me now, or will you walk away?

Nails it....

That's exactly how I feel. The left has tried to shut up the right by claiming all those things and more.

It's funny, it's no different than the anti hunting we talk about. All about emotion and rarely about fact.

Thank you for eloquently explaining my thoughts.

Thank you for eloquently explaining my thoughts.

I used the same word, eloquent, when talking to Bob about this privately.

I've shared on FB and it has been interesting so far. Mostly positive with only one person so far trying to make it about Trump. I shut him down. :)

Fascinating. ...

I had a second liberal, who I highly respect, interpret Wheels' rant to be nothing but a defense of Trump. I actually had to explain that the main point I took away from the post was the same bullying, arrogance, and dismissal that she was then accusing Trump of was practiced by many liberals on a daily basis.

I haven't heard back from her since I made that point. I hope I will as she typically will listen and discuss. If not, as Wheels said, my voice was heard on the 8th.

Pardon the necromancing of a long dead thread but this is some good stuff. As someone who identifies as a liberal (though more classical, like Teddy) and thinks Trump is a being a bit of a loon, I hate what the left has become, especially with how personal politics has gotten. It's no wonder my mom says to just tune it out.

Everyone is a little loony. Just a matter to what degree?

Trumps tweets have unhinged the Liberals, so they demonize him.

Trump has already destroyed the Cesspool of CNN. Others will follow.

Trump is not perfect. Nobody is. Trump is a game changer, and the establishment swamp dwellers are afraid of him, and those of us that put him in power. The swamp does not want Trump to rock their gravy train. It is the reason they are trying to take him down.
The Democrats are virtually powerless at this point, and all they have is the power of the Liberal media, fake news, and propaganda.

The MSM does not report on Trumps positive accomplishments.

Liberals are their own worst enemy , as well as to everyone else on the red side of the fence

Trumps tweets is part of the secret to his success.

I would bet the farm, that Twitter is trying to engineer a way to ban him, yet afraid to do so in fear of the public backlash.

I personally find Trump kinda abrasive but honestly, more power to him if he was able to get this far through sheer personality. Even my mom (who btw is a liberal) thinks the left needs to study him to see what he did. And even if I don't like the man, I want him to succeed in his job b/c as an American, his prosperity is mine.

Mark Levin, who I enjoy listening to had a great observation. Today..... the GOP are progressives & Democrats are radical liberals. There really is no "conservative" party anymore.

Though yeah, on the subject of MSM. While I don't think they're sending telewaves and turning frogs gay, I still think that the MSM has a bad habit of twisting stuff.

I can't personally say that I "hate" Obama as a person but I feel that as a president and a figure head, he was rather aloof and unaware. I also think that saying "racism is part of America's DNA" was idiotic to say the least. Yea we had problems with race but we're so much better than we were 50 years ago.

Here is the interesting thing to me though. It's now blind and tone deaf the Democratic party has become. They want to make it ALL about Trump, and I'm sorry but it's just not. The dems are getting their hats handed to them on every level.

Just look at the recent special elections, where the dems went 0-4. They were celebrating as if they were victorious because they didn't lose "that bad" regardless of the candidates or amount of money spent.

Obama had incredible personal popularity ratings, yet managed to hurt his party overall. Trump, so far, has had terrible personal ratings, yet his party continues to win at all levels. That says it all to me.

I pointed this out on FB thread and was told that I was missing the point (although no one ever told what I was missing) and that Trump would hurt the Republicans. I offered to bet anyone there that Republicans would lose less seats in the House in 2018 than Democrats lost in 2010, I even offered 75% odds. Not only was my bet not taken, I didn't even receive a response and offered three times. LOL

We are better than we were, but I also believe that we've taken a step backwards as a nation in this regard.

I believe this to be Obama's biggest failure (and that's saying a lot). As the first African-American President he had a unique opportunity to improve race relations. Instead, he made them worse.

Since Obama took office in 2009. The Democrats have lost over 1000 seats, at State and Federal levels.

Personally, I cut myself of from the left after Trump won. It's like no one's heard the saying of lemons and lemonade. Seriously, have some optimism, take action, do something besides whine and moan on how everyone's an idiot except for you. I don't poke fun at the right as often as I used to (with the exception of Alex Jones because well, the guy's cocoa bananas with nuts).

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
