A fun article about Bob's 2nd favorite caliber

He'll be launching 250 grain projectiles at us from very far away....at great velocity, almost enuf to achieve orbit!
@sestoppelman
Problem is with your new rifle in the 35 WHELEN you to can now do the same thing .
Bob

I think Bob really loves the 243 and just uses the 35 Whelen as a coverup. Bigger sounds badder, right?
@Newboomer
Bob still hates the 243 and always will. A lot of my hunting in OZ is done with a fast 25 but I do enjoy my Whelen, it just plain works.
Bob

To those in the know, the 6.5 Creed is just a 6.5 x 55 "wannabe." BTW I'm surprised that Bob hasn't suggested this thread be removed for spreading lies and misinformation!! I agree with you Von Gruff, just about any 6.5 beats a Creedmoor.
@ Shootist43
I'm not that mean mate everyone is entitled to their opinion. They are just envious that that the Whelen is gaining popularity and don't know how tomorrow handle it so they sling shit. All that does is give me a great laugh to start the day.
I'm enjoying this as I can see a lot more Whelen users in the future.
Bob

@BeeMaa
May the barrel on your R8 fall off when you least expect it.
Bob
And good morning to you as well. :LOL: Nothing like a 243WIN to get your blood up in the morning. Took you long enough, you lazy-sleeping in-silly bastard.

Look at it this way...your day is bound to get better. ;) Now get out there and knock off a Murdis with a 35WHELEN.

I'm partial to the 6mm Remington over the .243.

@CoElkHunter
No mate but I am awake now and enjoying a coffee and having a good laugh about all the nay sayers trying to ruffle my feathers. Little do they realize that when I had my shoulder operated on they put on some extra Teflon so the shit slides off easier. Nothing that can be said will bother me but I will be highly amused by what people will say to bring the mighty Whelen down.
Bob
That's why I like you Bob - you can take a good joke! I figured you'd enjoy the entertainment of A) insinuating the 6.5 Manbun is somehow on your list of favorites and B) and article that talks about it being overrated.

Just added the scope to my (new to me) 700 Whelen. Found some Superformance 200gr SPs and will go get it sighted in soon.

I found this article today. It's not a new one, so some of you may have seen it already, but I wanted to share it just for @Bob Nelson 35Whelen. It is about the great 6.5 Manbun, Bob's 2nd favorite caliber!

I had a real sporterized 6.5 Mauser made in Sweden from Swedish steel. Very efficient on deer-sized animals. Given a choice, I would prefer the 35 Whelen for versatility.

@Tbitty
Holy shit mate I've heard of the 35, 375 and 400 whelen but a 700 Whelen would have some oomph..
Ha ha ha ha ha ha
Bob

The 6.5 Creedmore has the some powder capacity as a 6.5 Mannlicher (rimmed or rimless) so how the hell can it be a 21st century wonder cartridge? :unsure: ADVERTISING! :D :A Stirring: :D Beers:

The 6.5 Manbun is only very slightly superior to the .35 Whelan.
We all know that speed kills because the road safety people tell us so. Therefore the 6.5 Manbun must be better than the Whelan because it is faster and therefore kills more..

So I guess a .204 Ruger spitting 24 grains at about 4500 fps is the real answer to our debates? ... or I believe I've seen 220 Swift published around 4600+ with 50 grains or so.
