7x57 favorite loads

Try W 760 or H414 with magnum primer, works very well with my 7 x57, just look in the reloading manual for load data, every rifle is different.

Hmmm...I have 3 8 pound jugs of these powders.

I probably ought to get a 7x57 to eat some of that powder up!

And you ask if you need help.

I avoid handloading like the plague but completely understand the purpose and value. I had excellent results with Sellier & Bellot factory 7x57 ammo with the 175gr nosler partition. It worked on bear, kudu, zebra, 9 impala, steinbok, hyena, baboon, etc. Just an awesome round. My 23" barreled single shot chornographed them at 2437fps so it is certainly not the fastest load that could be made for this rifle but it was plenty for all my purposes. Did I mention that the S&B 175gr partition ammo is cheap? This caliber has expensive brass to begin with so buying loaded ammo and saving the brass isn't such a bad plan either?

I'd really like to get my hands on 175gr or 180gr FMJ ammunition regulated to the same POI as my 175gr partition for a wide variety of uses. (not the use Karamojo Bell had in mind!) It's on the list if I ever get back to handloading.

Do you know anyone who sells FMJ 7 mm bullets? I don't recall having seen any.

PPU of Serbia manufacture them anyway (173gr.). Hopefully you can find someone in your neck of the woods.

Ruger no 1 7x57. 145 gr nosler partition, approx 15 black bear, 7 first deer for kids as if November 2019, cant ask for more, great load.

That’s higher than giraffes Vagina!

All my 7x57s except for one are Ackley Improved so my load data is way too hot for the average 7x57. I do use RL17 in all of my loads, I get about 200fps more using the RL 17 over IMR 4350 or Varget.

Bullet = Winchester 175 grain soft point " cup & core " style bullet , removed from vintage Winchester Super X 7×57 mm Mauser calibre ammunition .

This was load I used last year for whitetail. It's also about as tight shooting as I have gotten the ruger african so far. Tommorow plan on trying out some 145 gr speer grand slam loads with H4350.

and then of course there is the orangutang.
so called because his balls are made of brass.
as he swings from tree to tree, echoing through the forest can be clearly heard the sound orag - atang, orang - atang.

156 gr oryx, mine loves em and they have plenty of punch. I max out at 46 gr of H4350, load is out of John Barness Big Book of Gun Gack.
Huge fan of the norma bullets. Would like to try the oryx in my 9.3x62.

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
