.585 bolt gun in Africa?


An experienced big bore shooter will be able to control a rifle caliber 585 Nyati and not let it fall out of his hands, but keeping an eye on the target and reloading quickly is another problem. With the heavy DR calibers 577 Nitro Express or 600 Nitro Express it is also not that easy, despite the fact that with such rifles the second shot is much easier and quicker to do.

There was a gentleman on AR who bought his father a rifle from AHR in .585 AHR. I believe he took a few buffalo with it.

Intriguing rounds, but I'm not sure what they'll do that a .458 won't for a client hunter. That being said, I'm always contemplating something in the .505/.510 realm.
