I soaked these 540's up long ago, simply .. they were cheap. Noticeable, but I've never heard the Jeffery crack the sound barrier like these?Had both 500 Jeffery and 505 Gibbs. 500 J for me thanks. Shorter/Smaller action, and I've had no trouble getting 2250 fps out of a 22" barrel. All that said, they are both fine killers.
That’s a very nice rifle . Who is the maker ?
I have both a .500 J and .505 G. Nostalgia take me to the .505 Gibbs- until I shoot it… flip and dang does that thing kick!… but nostalgia has me loving this rifle. If I had to choose, it’s the .500 Jeffery, between the two. I found it to be smooth feeder ( thank you, Wayne, AHR), predictable blast and very accurate. Life is too short… I’m hunting with both! Last year .500 J on elephant. This year .450 NE, Elephant ( guys the .450 NE double is by far my favorite! ). Next year, out comes the mighty .505 Gibbs, Ele and buff. Hunt report will be posted

Altho I love walnut, I prefer to hunt with synthetic as it takes the abuse and smiles with the results. I hate to see a beat piece of figured walnut.
As things start to all look the same after a while .. this is unique in it's own right.Altho I love walnut, I prefer to hunt with synthetic as it takes the abuse and smiles with the results. I hate to see a beat piece of figured walnut.
This is my kind of hunting rifle and AHR was the epitomy.
Maybe one day you will get daring and venture north of the zambezi with it....
The truth is that Biden was a very big problem and even the Dems couldn't tolerate it any more. He was removed because the Dems that couldn't tolerate it any more were the electorate more than the leaders, and the polls said so. It then begs the question, if Harris had her hands tied, does Joe's removal imply that if elected she will now suddenly do all the right things, like fix the border? If she does not, then you have only two conclusions to draw: either she is of the same ilk as old Joe, or she is not really in charge, as was the case with Joe.
It is tough to see a beautiful pristine wood stock get its first few dents and battle scars. But once over the hump. It’s then called character.Altho I love walnut, I prefer to hunt with synthetic as it takes the abuse and smiles with the results. I hate to see a beat piece of figured walnut.

@Altitude sickness! owner & success with the 505! I looked all over for your groups & stories when I came across this video. It is tough to see a beautiful pristine wood stock get its first few dents and battle scars. But once over the hump. It’s then called character.
I love the look of a battle scarred rifle with very little blueing left.
