500 Jeffery Club

It's a 24" McGowan 1 in 10" twist barrel. It shoots real good

Mine is 12.

New build will be 11.5.

What is roughly around the average weight of a rifle chambered in 500 Jeffery that is the best compromise between reasonable weight to carry around and reduce recoil?...

Also, barrel length recommendations?
The 500 isn't a play gun....

It kicks, and even considering a suppressor makes me want to puke!

Mine is 11lb, 22.75" barrel

You learn to shoot it...

It took a lot! of time to acclimate, become accurate enough. I'm sure it's already perished ..

That's cruising! .. the lighter, the stiffer.

Norma's 540. 7000ft/lbs. In a 9lb rifle.

Strange liberal backpack. But fits right in the pocket & adds 1/4" LOP?

Did you ever consider adding weight to that rifle?

I shot a couple rounds out of a 9lbs Sako Grizzly and found it quite “painful”.

I feel like 11.5-12.5lbs would be the sweet spot for the 500s.

On the upside it makes my 458 feel like a 30.06.

@Northern Shooter, I certainly did consider adding weight, length, sight ..
The truth, of a probable hunt is becoming more extinct.

I assume keep em as is, if I have to try to sell.
Thank you, Dan.

Here's a photo of Tony receiving that Shaw & Hunter award at the 1970 annual EAPHA Dinner Dance. Tony Dyer, then EAPHA President and Princess (Sunny) von Auersperg presented it. I also attended the event.
