500 Jeffery Club

I personally don't believe a 11.5lb's is necessary & understand "it's not for everyone". I lost over two years (laid up) w/o shooting. @Altitude sickness, etc. helped critique, which takes time & a lot of practice.

Lost a lot of strength, but ran the AHR anyway,
600grn @ 2100fps
Norma 570
Norma 540
Kynoch 535

Taking an absolute beating 'c the Sako.

Norma 540's almost 7000ft/lbs .. they are nasty.

My CZ 550 in 500 Jeffery weighs 11 lbs naked and 12 lbs with a Leupold 1.5-5x scope and Talley QR rings. I find that just about right. I work out with 15 lb dumbbells so the rifle feels light and lively to me even when elk hunting.

Anyone here own a R8 in 500 Jeffery? Seeing lots of traditional bolt actions in this cartridge but not in the Blaser.

Curious how the recoil would be in that platform vs the Sakos and CZ's.

See post # 482 from Aussie _ Hunter.

I’ve got a 500J barrel on order.

As to recoil. The R8 will be almost 1KG heavier than the Sako. I’m pretty sure that will make a considerable difference to felt recoil.

If you're in good shape, controlled, measured .. you'll become proficient.

It has to be devastating.

Haha whoops, didn't read far enough back into this thread.

Will try post some decent pics today. Had a drive of over 700km home and a lot of drama to sort out after a Microburst storm in our town on Sunday.
awesome!

I've already seen the stock as a WIP so I know overall finished product is going to be amazing

Sorry guys, going rough after the storm.

Will give you a preview.

When I was introduced, we tried to film different outings.

There was one comment, that had to be translated: "The shooter needs a pitchfork in his ass" ? ;)

such is life ...

Stunning......

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary
