Here is a interesting rifle that a friend has made . Its a custom made458 win mag necked up to a .470 caliber. He calls it the 470 win mag . Im sure there will be a few comments on this one . Recoil is similar to a 458 lott.

Ive seen the velocity reports, 2300-2350fps 500 grain jacketed. Thats 458 lott power. Id say removing the taper and necking up add a bit more powder capacity than expected and also the 11% larger bore area in 470 over the 458 with the same bullet weight moves it a bit faster as well.

I have seen 458 win mag loads do an honest 2200fps with 500 grain so the math checks out, pressures would be right at the top end.

What a marvellous little cartridge , all that power in standard length action and in a big magazine like a CZ550 you would get 5 down

He makes them for fun a lot of the time. he has done everything from 375 to 600O.K in safari grade, 577 light nitros on Martini henrys, bolt and levers in 50AE, 500alaskan, 500SW and Automax, also owns the only two 577 Rewa and 495-Square reamers I have ever heard of in use( I mean seriously, who has ever done the 495 Square before lol). Tests them on water buffalo and banteng which he has some kind of concession to shoot in big numbers. The guy is a genius and high volume hunter, I'd have to put him in the top few in the world.
