458 Lott Ruger RSM

Not sure what the RSM looks like guys but I'm going to look it up. I just bought a Ruger Model 1 in 458 Lott and should have it to my FFL guy this week. Looking forward to taking it to the range!

You will need to do a report Charlie.

I will be interested to see what you think of the recoil in that No. 1.

Royal I'm sure that rifle will kick like a Missouri mule. I will report as soon as I can get to the range!

It will if it's anything like my .458 Win. Mag. Still thinking about adding weight to mine.

My RSM is in .416 Rigby and I wouldn't take anything for it. Same for my #1 in .458 Win Mag. I might consider changing out the Browning Stainless A-Bolt in .375 H&H for a Winchester, but that is not a burning desire currently as it shoots well enough for me.

Agreed. My RSM .416 Rigby is almost perfect. The only thing I would trade it for is a Rigby rifle in .416. And we both know that's not going to happen! I also have a 1H in .416 Rigby. I might would trade that for another RSM.

RSMs in nib condition in the big calibers are worth $2000. They are that good! Ask Heym or IdaRam!
Only my unsolicited opinion.

Agreed @sierraone , I also believe they are that good. Every RSM I have seen or heard people comment about is out-of-the-box ready to hunt. That in itself is worth alot to me. In addition, they're not making any more of them :) With the RSM reputation I believe they will get harder and harder to find and value will continue to increase, even as they age and become "more used".
I'm halfway there to a complete collection. I just need the Lott, .270 Win and .338 WM. So far .338 seems rarest of the breed...

There is a guy in Oregon selling an "as-new" R.S.M in .416 on another site for $1875.

Booked with Harold Grinde - Gana River - they sure kill some good ones - who'd you get set up with?

HI all, here is a Short update on our America trip, I currently in Houston and have 2 more meetings here before movings North toward Oklahoma, Missouri and Iowa, and from there I will head to Colorado and Idaho,I have been met with great hospitality and friendship, and have met several new and old clients and we are going to book the rest of 2025 season quick and have several dates booked for 2026!
That's a wrap, on our first hunt of this years season.

Hunting conditions are a bit tougher in South Africa during the month of February, but can be just as rewarding if done right.
