I am well known for not beating around
the bush and calling a spade a spade...

And irrespective of who it is I will call BS on using or suggesting the use of expanding bullets for elephant .

I hope you feel better now after refering to me as a pompous ass and a King Kaffir...well done on that....

I salute you for being active in the Rhodesian bush war....I was also very active in our own war to no avail....and just as you who is a CrippledEagle.....like it or not so am I.....abandoned by my own government.....

I know and still befriend a few Selous Scouts and other members who where very active in the Rhodesian bush war....perhaps you know some of them...

Selous Scout Ray Godbeer, who joined the RLI in 1970 and then joined the Selous Scouts in 1975 and then joined the South African Special forces 1 Recce and 5 Recce as the main tracking, anti tracking and survival instructor.....he was my main instructor on survival, tracking and anti tracking when I did my course....he is considered the main man when it comes to sub saharan survival tracking and anti tracking.....

John Stanton Selous Scout....very active in fund raising and support to ex Scouts....I support them as well...

Rob Bristow ex BSAP and intelligence....we see each other at least once a month......

I will carry your shooting sticks anytime.....but shure as shit not if you have a NP in the chamber and the quarry is elephant......
G'day mate. It's indeed a small world. I hereby apologize for the reaction. Just as you are known for not beating, I am known for never taking a punch without throwing 4 back. I think I know Ray Godbeer. If it's the guy I remember he was a friend of Clem Coetzee and Alan Lowe. His name was Ray but I forgot his last. Alan used to say he could track a fly up a window pane. The first time I heard the term "aerial spoor". I did my thing actually before the name CE was coined and never got to join the gang in Salisbury. I think I was one of the first Americans. I fell in love with the country and the people. My experience was 1000 yd. Wimbledon Cup and Leech Cup, but I never called myself a sniper. Hated the name. I could sink a boat with my 375, and that's part of the island elephant story. I remember showing up wearing my Ranger American camo on Lake Kariba and the guys laughed and cut off the legs and arms so they could see I was white. It looked exactly like what the floppies wore! I am not going to continue this conversation in depth because the statute of limitations never runs out on treason. I live a damn good life, made a lot of money, and went on to hunt extensively. My best to you, sir.

Oh damn! I thought it was a lime!! The LAST thing I am is a racist!!

Citrus hystrix, called the kaffir lime or makrut lime, is a citrus fruit native to tropical Southeast Asia. Its fruit and leaves are used in Southeast Asian cuisine and its essential oil is used in perfumery. Its rind and crushed leaves emit an intense citrus fragrance. Wikipedia
Scientific name: Citrus hystrix
Higher classification: Citrus
Family: Rutaceae
Kingdom: Plantae

I’m thinking a bottle of Jameson is in order now.

Nps. Spell check.
I will assume you mean NP’s.

Yes I have, but it was because it was my Garandathers rifle and ammo he handloaded the ammo for that rifle with NP's. Don’t hold me to the exact year, but around 1986 was the first I remember. By the early 90's I'd discovered bonded bullets and I stopped using cup-and-core for game animals.

@Graham Hunter and @Flewis - I had posted a picture of the NAB because @lockingblock had asked about an updated NP that was bonded, had a boat-tail and polymer tip. It seemed to fit the bill.

I have not used the NAB on any game animals, although I have a bunch of the loaded 375H&H 300 grain sitting around. It was wicked cheap at the time, so I bought it for practice ammo.

Hello,

I don´t understand some things written here...Have all people here actually used the NP on game?? Or even the N Accubond?? I did with both, 260 and 300 gr NP and 260 gr Accubond. And many Barnes X, the first ones pre TSX. To me the NP always wins on penetration over the Accubond. And very close to the Barnes X. Most of the times making two holes, even in big cattle! And also wins in the damage made on the way out!!
One thing I ALWAYS have made with the bullets I going to use is to cut them longitudinally. Good education and good to understand, and in some way to anticipate, bullet behavior on game. Also I did some home made "tests" by shooting on deep snow. I don´t know if this replicates exactly the behavior on flesh. Anyway, it is amazing because the bullets, including the first Barnes X of the 90´s I used (250 gr .375"), don´t go further than 70/80 centimeters, roughly 30", into the snow, shooting with full charges at 1 meter from the muzzle!!!! And they can be retrieved already expanded and absolutely clean!
One thing I saw with the .375 300 gr NP is the position of the partition in relation to that position in the other caliber I used (160 and 175 7mm plus 165 and 180 .30"): it is significantly further in the .375" 300 grs NP!!
The paper of the SD in the penetration "in line" of a bullet in flesh has been misunderstanded. Many serious studies have been made on this with many replications. The 300 grs NP falls in the top group.
Anyway, in MY very limited experience, I cannot blame the 300 grs .375 NP bullet as a "surpased" by MODERN designs! It is as "modern" as other designs, with their limitations. And virtues as well!!!
I have, but not used yet. some boxes of Barnes TSX 270 gr .375". I think this weight in the 375 H&H would be great for big animals. I must try on wild cattle bulls!!!

Not even close to the partition. I think that's funny BeeMaa that you said you use the greatest big game bullet ever designed for "practice ammo". This from the man who asked in another thread what a bongo was. It's time to end this thread.
