Recoil is certainly an issue. This is much of what makes one rifle “easier to shoot” than another.
Great news for those of us who prefer the .375:
Woodleigh 375 Cal (.375") Bullets for handloading.

The Woodleigh Weldcore 350 grain RNSN HD is finally available again. As others have said here, Kevin Robertson favors this bullet over any 300 grain offering and convinced me to try it on my last trip to Limpopo. If you believe that sectional density is an important factor in DG bullet selection, the following is persuasive:
.375:
300 gr = .305
350 gr = .356
.416:
400 gr = .330
.423:
400 gr = .321
If the bullet shoots well in your rifle, why wouldn’t you want the highest SD for DG?
R to L: .375 350 Weldcore, .375 300 TSX, .450 Rigby 500 TSX, .500 NE 570 TSX
The 300 TSX is perfectly fine for a general purpose, including DG, bullet. But, as Robertson says, the 350 hits more like a .416.
