.308 Win or .30.06? Which caliber has the nose in front in your country?

Well I would think both .308 or .30-06 a bit much for roe deer. But then again where you hit them matters and one could use controlled-expansion bullets and punch them right through (as you mention as well). Or one could use very light bullets or smaller caliber with light bullets.

Out here in Alberta, I think .308 is very popular but 30-06 probably has an edge. I think .270, .300/.338WM are up there as well. I know and meet more hunters with these 4 calibers than anything else. Though some of the new calibers are now starting to creep in the mix. 6.5 creed on the low end and some of the RUM and Nosler cartridges on the heavier hitting side.

I feel at least in my state in Australia there's a demographic split in popularity that I've noticed.

The rough 'bogan' types, that love to kill everything that move while sinking rum cans tend to use 308 around here.

More serious dedicated hunters tend to have a 30-06.

Both fall behind 300 WM in popularity though. We're in the land over gross overkill to excuse terrible shooting!

I don't know what state you are in but in my circles in NSW the 308 is more popular than the 30-06.
But realistically not many use it and favour smaller calibers like the mabun, 270, 223 and for some strange reasoonthey even use the 243s.
My son favours the 308 and 150gn projectiles. I don't own either an 08 or 06 and prefer my fast 25 or Whelen, but that's me. I used to use a 303 extensively and after seeing the 08 in use in Australia and Namibia I have not found it wanting for any sensible hunting.
Bundy and coke out of a can is reserved for uneducated heathens that know now better. That is akin to mixing a fine scotch with coke.
The only thing I have found coke useful for is removing bugs off windscreens and cleaning battery terminals.

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.

Hello:
I’ll take the .375 Whitworth for $1,150 if the deal falls through.
Thanks .
