Currently planning to take a 416 Rigby bolt rifle and a 500 nitro Heym double rifle. I’m not certain which I will end up being most comfortable with so I’m going to train with and take both.

If you like the aesthetic of a stock without a pad, but want the cushion of a pad, you could consider getting a hunting shirt with a removable pad. I have several from Filson and it does help. You may want to take into account the extra 1/4” that will be added to LOP for proper fitting of the gun.

My wallet is also an open sided “slide” as others have called them. It holds six rounds with each pair separated by a space. I had previously assumed that 8 rounds (2 in the barrel and six on the slide) would be enough but am considering whether I should have another slide to bring the total to 14.

Filson tin cloth (waxed canvas) is an excellent option and water resistant too! There are also some pen/pencil pockets above the left chest pocket that can double as ammo pockets (for longer rounds).

In addition to the above sage advice, please be sure to check with your PH regarding whether that caliber is legal for dangerous game in the intended country. My understanding is that many countries have a minimum of .375 for Cape Buffalo (9.3mm = .366 in). Keep us posted on what paring ends up...
