Where do I start for building a 9.3 Ruger?

Interesting, I may have to check that out also.

Where do I start for building a 9.3 Ruger?

I would like to get close to 3000fps, just don't know if I'm pissing in the wind, or have to go to a really unefficent case, or just a longer barrel. Case length is not a factor for me, as it will be in a no1

    Warning on new Leupold scopes

Would using the back of a closed pocket knife work? I use mine like that, for lots of things.

    Warning on new Leupold scopes

In a lot of things, from scopes, tools, to toys. People keep the extra batteries laying around in drawers, next to all the other batteries. Not to mention all the other small batteries around. This is just nuts, to put a child lock on a scope.

    .45-70 FMJs on Game

Using a gas checked hard cast with a flat melpete works very well. I don't know where you would find FMJ bullets, unless they are the older round nosed ones, then they would push through and not cause any cavitation, likely even with a big 45 cal hole, their would be a tracking involved. Even...

    JES Rebore

I don't have pictures, but I have seen it done several ways, some not so good..dremel to grind, then electric graver with new one, xxxxx, then stamped new one. On the good side, filed and polished off and new one engraved in, small end mill machined flat and new stamped in. Their are several...

Name for a new wildcat cartridge

Ahh, just something I'm kicking around, I have lots of 300wby brass and 9.3 bullets, not so much 375 bullets. I have a lathe and mill, so no matter what, barrel would have to be sent out and re rifled..may just start with 8mm, or 35cal. But really been wanting to see just how much you can ring...

    I blame Bob N 35 whelen

I have one also, brought back by my dad, it was the first burl table that we made and was for my mom. Dad and I made several afterwards, maple, redwood and myrtle wood mostly. Mom and dad are gone and it now resides with me, found memories making it, it is due for a refinishing.

Name for a new wildcat cartridge

Right, but I have 300wby dies and brass, all I to do ream the neck on the die and expand the neck on the brass. I could also go 300ultra mag also, for the same reason. I don't own anything in PRC, so would require custom dies as well as if I use the P17 Enfield, magazine work, in the no1...

Name for a new wildcat cartridge

Been kicking Around nicking up the 300wby to 9.3. Mostly because I have a shot out 300wby barrel for my ruger no1 and already have a 9.3x74R. Thinking about a longer range gun for plains game, like eastern Montana elk. As well as having grizz protection.

    45-70 dangerous game?

Well dang, I happen to have a 50 BMG barrel hanging out next to a No1 action...now, you guys got me thinking again...I like rimmed shells on single shots, a 50-120 suped up..hmmm

    45-70 dangerous game?

Isn't the encore rated at 60,000psi? I believe it's stronger then most doubles. Off the top of my head, I can't think of a cartridge that can't be shot on it.

Last Chance For CITES Brown Bear Hunt!

I love Bear hunting, always wanted a euro bear, but just cant swing it. I do have a interior Alaskan griz, estemated by fish and game at around 650ls, and several black bears, biggist from a couple years ago at around 450-500lbs. some day ill get over their and thump one.
  31. Boone66

    45-70 dangerous game?

im not saying they are unreliable, just the rugers no1 and no3 and bolt guns can take a higher pressure is all, so put them a step above the lever guns and several steps from a trap door, is all.
  32. Boone66

    45-70 dangerous game?

The problem with the 45-70 is their are three power levels to it, black powder pressure, lever guns and ruger No1 and a few bolt actions. The latter sto ger actions with a 450 to 500gr bullet put it on the heels of a 458 win. Still not a stopping rifle though. I own both the 45-70 ruger in a no3...

    Allure of the Ruger No1

I had a 300 wby that gave me fits, took the barrel off, it's still on my bench, with me trying to decide what I want to make it into.
  34. Boone66

    45-70 dangerous game?

I think some people are getting stopping rifles and killing rifles mixed up. Is a 45-70 a stopping rifle on bears, yes..is it a stopping rifle on cape Buffalo, no, or I wouldn't use it as such, just like a 9.3x74R is a stopping rifle on bears, but not cape Buffalo...both will kill them though...

  40. Boone66

Identifying this Mauser and the cartridge it takes

Those 9mm barrels will be between .356 and .360, is my experience. .358 cup and core bullets can be resized to .358, with a sizing die, custom bullets can be made also. Some folks say .366 bullets can be reduced to ..360, but I haven't done that yet.
  41. Boone66

Identifying this Mauser and the cartridge it takes

My 9x56ms is also stamped 7.9, sometimes that's the bore size, not the groove diameter. A chamber cast and bore slug will tell you the actual size.

    Chest Holsters

This is kinda interesting, that's the main problem I have with the chest rig concept, is how the binos would work with it. What bino.rig is that. Also, I normally carry a old model Ruger Vaquaro in 45colt.
