    Good Gun Deals This Week

That's what I was thinking, the mount and fitting would be around 2 grand. I could do it myself, but like you mentioned, it wouldn't have the prominence of a really known Smith doing it. I may just end up handing it off to my son.

    Good Gun Deals This Week

My 9x56ms 1905 doesn't have a tang sight, or scope mounts. What I don't know is if putting correct claw mounts on it would reduce its value, I have a few period correct scopes.

Help me pick my next R8 caliber

I agree, the 9.3 will do everything a 30 cal can do and more, I vote for the 6.5x55 or 25-06 or even a 22-250, for roe and varmints.

Cast Bullets. An alternative to jacketed bullets

This is a great thread, I have been casting for over 40 years, started as a kid, with muzzleloaders, then hand guns and rifles of various calibers. Have killed a lot of game with cast bullets over the years.

I have some 110 CEB bullets loaded up for a 10in barreled Contender, like you, I'm apprehensive about using them for elk. What is your opinion, since you shot the 100's, would the 110's work on quarter shots on elk, say out to 150yds?

    New Double Rifle Build

It is the prettiest blank, but straight grain is always the strongest. You don't want burl in the grip on a heavy recoiing gun. Burl in the butt section and forend grip is the way to go. The other option is to put it on a gun with a through the butt tang bolt. Most double and single shot rifles...

    9.3x74r accuracy

I have a few no1s, they can be tuned to shoot very good. Hand loading and or trying different brands to tighten the group will help also. The 9.3x74R in a no1 has escaped me so far.

    Husqvarna Mauser M96 questions

I have owned several different Mauser actions over the years, 91 through 98 and have never had a issue with any of them. If your worried about a pierced primer and gas coming back through the bolt, just have a couple of holes drilled in the bolt, so the gas goes into the magazine well. Several...

Would you mount a Female Cape Buffalo?

Another thing to consider, is a euro mount and have the cape tanned. It will be their if you later decide to do a mount, or you can sell the cape at a later date. I have done this with Alaskan game and it worked out pretty good.

What's up with todays' gun shops?

Also, the hunting gun market normally follows what the military uses. What stalled the AR, was mostly the caliber.

What's up with todays' gun shops?

Their is a mix, here in Montana, a lot of long range guns, some classics as well as Tupperware guns. It seems to me, that the big boomers and old long range guns aren't wearing out, but have moved into collections. As the new guns come out in stainless etc. Their are some special runs of the...

    Thoughts about Leupold VX-3HD

I just got one of these also, and have yet to really play with it, but like others have said, a lot of turrets need a small Allen wrench to do the zero. Like you, I was afraid of losing the tiny wrench. What I do is fold a strip of duct tape around the Allen wrench shaft, leaving a long tail on...

HOWDAH Pistols for stopping the charge

Right, but I would still stay within the pressure limits and not modify the guns chamber, or some fool.down the road will blow it up. I think the idea of either brass 410 or the 460 brass is on the right track. Or step up to a bigger/stronger frame
  45. Boone66

HOWDAH Pistols for stopping the charge

I would be very cautious of doing that, I don't believe the action would take the pressure. You have to remember that after you are done and gone, it will still be around and someone may fire a standard 45-70 in it, not a reduced charge, like you would, also, a 45-70 is for a .458, not a .451...

Third Bite/Greener Crossbolt On Double Rifles. (Or Lack Thereof)

I have put back of face several shotguns , double under lug, dolls head etc.. but never seen one with a greener cross bolt that needed it.
