Thoughts on Cape Buffalo under 40"

The buffalo on my profile picture has 40 and 1/2 ". Would I consider it a bad trophy it would only have 38" - no way I would. Would have shot that old fella no matter which size. It was a hell of a hunt, I don't care about the inches, it's the experience that counts.

One more firearm...or are you done?

There is "one more" which should be finished in approximately 14 to 16 month. I ordered it in September 2025. It's a single shot rifle... After that I am done (at least that's what I told my wife)

    Snakes sightings on your safaris

Limpopo in August. Had a Cap cobra that chose the space between my legs as the direction for the escape. I was just walking as the 3rd person after the PH and the tracker. Kneehigh grass with some rocks to step over. PH saw it first, yelled "snake" while I was taking my next step I froze my...

How do you organize your ammo wallet?

As some have already stated, I am using only Barnes TSX for Buffalo. So no solids in the pouch... I have 4 in the rifle and another 7 in the pouch. There is a superstition in Austria that you should only carry an odd number of bullets and of course never 13... But there is more ammo in the...

SOUTH AFRICA: Back From A Wonderful Journey & A Great Hunt With Wayne Wagner Safaris

What was your most difficult shot?

Most difficult shot ever taken was in Scotland at a red stag. No way to get closer, pouring rain, strong wind and about 300 yards to go. Understanding The Barnes TSX Controversy

This is the TSX which broke the opposite shoulder of my buffalo at approx 40m It's a 400gr .422 bullet aka .404 Jeffery. It's a reloaded bullet with approx 2300fps. The buff went 25m and was down bellowing. The Barnes did all the work I could have asked for. So I wouldn't change anything for...
