They have built up an excellent reputation in South Africa in a short amount of time. I’ve only loaded them in my 404 Jeffery with good accuracy but have not been able to hunt with them. I’m about to order 140gr 7mm for my 7x57.
I am sure DWB and Frederik will chime in here..
I took this bull with my 7x64 on Saturday in the Eastern Cape. Also took four other animals. It is a wonderful caliber. 170gr Norma Oryx works on everything I’ve tried it.
6.5x54.
It will be a joy to carry all day and easier to manoeuvre when you have to crawl after your springbuck.
Although not ideal, if you bump into a hartebeest/waterbuck while carrying it those long 160gr bullets will get the job done if you do yours.
The Free State border is less than 10km outside of Kimberley. I grew up there. There are a lot more hunting farms and game in the area now than when I was at school there twenty years ago. Lots of beautiful hunting areas in the vicinity with a wide variety of game. I would say Red Hartebeest and...
They’ll probably not ask what happened to your rounds on departure. And if they do you just tell them you used them all.
Safari Outdoor has branches around Cape Town and Gauteng. They stock a generous selection of American and European ammo (Hornady, Federal, Norma) in various calibers...

Would buy a case or two if I could. If you ship to South Africa please let me know [emoji6]
Norma Bondstrike 180gr in 308 is 3x the price of this offer in SA. Even Federal Fusion in 308 cost twice as much.
Great deal! My old Sako Forester would’ve loved these!
Thanks for the responses. Had a quick search on prices before posting to reach the price. I don’t believe shipping will be $40 each but will confirm that too.
Will improvise, adapt and overcome.
Best,
Louis
I bought my two bags on another forum. I believe the owner had them in mind for forming to another caliber. I had an option on a few bags in Namibia but found the other opportunity easier.
I did not see any listed by retailers. From one supplier I heard that the importers received no 404 or...
Is this what brass is currently going for in the US? I paid R4,000 for 100 (101 when I opened the bags) of new Norma brass recently which I know was a bit of a bargain. New stock recently dropped in SA at around R3,800 per 50 but all were gone before you knew it.
Dear Members,
I am putting up for sale my small collection of books on African hunting and rifles. Please note that I am based in Stellenbosch, South Africa. I will mail these to the buyer properly bubble wrapped via DHL. Shipping should be in the vicinity of US$40.00 from SA to the US.
The...
Katima Mulilo is a quick (and cheap) flight from Windhoek so logistically it should be quite easy to add on before or after the rest of the hunt. Dangerous game hunts generally have a specified number of days required in camp which usually starts at 5 or 7 minimum.
ndumo HUNTING SAFARIS had...
Saw this for sale in SA this past week for around US$1,850. Custom on Brno action and Leupold scope. I thought this was as close to perfect for Central Africa
I am contemplating selling one of my Schmidt & Bender scopes. From my experience so far it seems that the majority of our members are in the USA.
Has anyone ever sold a scope from South Africa to the US? Are there any complexities other than shipping?
Best,
Louis
Hi DG,
It was an amazing experience. Spent a week in the Bwabwata camp on the Kwando river which is just beautiful. I hunted with Divan Labuschagne who’s also a member here. Karl was in camp most of the week which was great. The two areas differ quite vastly in topography and I would say I...
I have friends who frequent the reserve and apparently it is a very special place. Whether the conservation model washes its own face I cannot say.
De Beers owns extensive agricultural land around the Northern Cape in South Africa (and apparently Botswana). Rooipoort Nature Reserve is one of...
If these are what you’re referring to try their website https://swakopvellies.com/
I bought them at their store in Swakopmund. Also stocked at Oom Samie se Winkel in Stellenbosch, South Africa.
My bull from Bwabwata in the Caprivi with Ndumo Hunting Safaris. Have a look at their website. They seem to produce these kind of bulls quite frequently.
