Shipping a rifle scope from Canada to the USA

I guess my question would be: "Where in Canada are you?" This could be important. For instance, I visit parts of Canada from time to time, and I often have personal items in my hand luggage...

Well, the Reserve Component is a little different. Unlike the Active Component, if you don't show up for drill, it's an unexcused absence, but not UA, as defined by the UCMJ.. Do that a bunch of times, and at some point it's easy to admin discharge someone before his contract is up...

Honestly, on September 12, 2001, I don't think there was an Active Component, Reserve Component, or National Guardsman who didn't know the word was coming. It was not a question of "if", but "when". I can also remember a stop-loss period where no one was leaving, whether through retirement of...

    Military Arms?

Well, I consider .30 cal as the break between a light gun and a medium gun, and then .40 cal as getting into the heavy guns. The "weight" description refers to the round, not the weight of the gun. Some other thoughts on the differences between the M60 and M60E3. The E3 is lighter (19.9#)...

    Military Arms?

Former MOS: 0331. Machine Gunner. As stated, in VN it was the M60. 7.62mm, air cooled, belt fed, open bolt, medium machine gun. Replaced in the mid-80s with the M60E3, and in the early 90s to mid 90s by the M240G. I had the MOS from '86 to '91, so I trained on both. In 2000 I went to...

Anyone ever imported a Hilux or LC Bakkie to the States?

Having imported a Land Rover to the US from the UK, I can tell you exactly what the DOT/US Customs will be looking for: 1. There is a thing called the DOT "Good List". If a vehicle is on the list, importing is somewhat easy. You need to go through a registered importer...

We had a great time in this place: https://wolfburn.com/pages/tours. Much better than the large-scale distilleries. FWIW, if you have the time, it is not a long ferry ride to Orkney, Scapa Flow is interesting, and were gobsmacked by the Italian POW Chapel.

    Continental Maps at proper scale

I was trying to explain the "why". What's notable with a mercator projection is the size is dependent on the latitude. It's not really a "distorted" size, it's that the scale varies according to the latitude, but if you try and take in the whole thing, you're completely off... At the same...

    Continental Maps at proper scale

The benefit of the mercator projection is both that it preserves shapes, and all rhumb lines are straight lines. Your compass will not be as valuable if you're plotting on an equal area projection, like the Gall-Peters or the "Equal Earth" projection. Are you comparing sizes, or actually using...

When I see something on a white circle with a red border, I think "prohibited". For example, this means that motor vehicles are prohibited: So if I saw a handmade sign like that, I wouldn't think they were warning me I was in a hunting area, I would think I couldn't hunt there.

Not saying the calculator is wrong. I understand averages, not spikes and drops, and I'm taking for granted that the average price for fuel in 1986 was 93 cents. What I am asserting, however, is the chart does not match the purported value in the table. 93 cents in 1986 dollars, using the...

I really like my M1910. Sure, ammo is difficult to find, and I need to work up a hand load. Sure, it's not a magnum. And its recoil has some authority. But it's almost as handy as my M1903, with a lot more punch. And there's a history to it that cannot be ignored.
