I say it depends. I have not hunted chamois and you may be moving a lot. I went Dall sheep hunting in Alaska and had Swaro's 10x42's. I figured my guide was the one to judge the sheep, and he was. Problem I had that we stayed in a spot for some time and I was not able to see any details on...
Thanks, Rare Breed. I am not sure if the outfitter knows about this but Scott will find out. If not he may go to a taxidermist and see about getting some replicas made. I know Scott's father brought back tusks, but that was in the 70's.
Thanks Rare Breed. The reason I was asking, I went to Zimbabwe 5 years ago and it was my first trip to Africa. I went with a friend of mine who had been there many times. I shot a nice Cape buffalo and an Impala. My friend Scott shot a nice elephant and as far as he has been told, he can't...
I would personally want to take my own rifle too. I went dove hunting there and did not take my own shotgun for a couple reasons. Fellow travelers who had been there before said it wasn't worth the hassle or the fees they charge. As others have said, as cheap or cheaper to rent the shotgun...
He probably won't respond since he hasn't been on here since 2020. I see in one of his posts that he did sell the gun and finally sold the brass and bullets.
Thanks Redleg, I hadn't heard of her passing. Great singer and songs. I was too young and wouldn't have been allowed anyway, but sure wish I could have seen her at Woodstock!!
Welcome roklok, I envy you native Alaskan residents. All that variety without a guide. I have been hunting in Alaska 8 times. Of course for the sheep and grizzly I had to have a guide. Moose, caribou and black bear I have hunted with friends. Been on the haul road bow hunting and always...
I am curious on the logistics on this very nice load of animals. Surprised that all those fit together in the crate. Really curious if you had to go through all of the hoops compared to shipping back hides and horns?
Welcome NorthernKel. "A"'s in front of places to hunt are tops on my list. I've been to Alaska a number of time and always want to go again!!! Only been to Africa once and of course I want to go back. Good luck on your trip planning, you are in one of the best places!!!
Thank you TucsonFX4:
I will PM you.
To pay it forward, I will offer a set of Hornady dies, 223 WSSM. Not really Africa caliber but a screamer. New in plastic wrap.
Welcome Sourdough!! I love Alaska and have been up there a number of times. Flew out of Ninilchik a couple times with Doug, Alaska West air. Caught a "slot" salmon at 47" that we had to let go on the Kenai river a few years ago. Been bow hunting caribou on the haul rd, Dalton and been up to...
Thanks for all the responses on my "wanted" ammo. My buddy is set on his ammunition for the Polar bear hunt. A little light in my opinion, but you know what they say about opinions, HA. He's going the end of May, so I'll report on his success later.
Yes, it does have a muzzle brake. And yes Polar bear. I have a Remington 375 ultra mag in SS/synthetic I offered him to take. And he has a 375 flanged double that he took to Africa. I shot my cape buffalo when we were there together. He is pretty much set on the Weatherby.
Yes and it's not mine. A close friend is going after the white bear in Canada soon. He has a box but needs to practice more. Can't find any online....
Thanks in advance krish for checking
I don't see anything wrong with the setup. Leave it off and use the iron sights as is. You have options to use optics if you want. Krieghoff did an excellent job for my friend, but wasn't cheap, but it was worth it and I was along when he took his elephant with the red dot equipped 375...
It looks good to me. I was a machinist/toolmaker and it looks like a good setup. A friend sent his Krieghoff back to them and had a Trijicon red dot sight installed where the removable block is, right in front of the breech. Didn't alter the gun at all. It looks like the same thing was done...
There is a guy on 24 hour campfire selling a Ruger in 458 Lott. Also, I have a friend who bought two boxes of Hornady Dangerous game Series 500 gr ammo by mistake. #8262. don't know how that happened. If ammo is wanted, pm me and I will get you his cell number
I tried to post a link to the...
That sounds like a great hunt. What a great chance to use a gun like a Shilo Sharps or Pedersoli in a big bore!!! Have fun and please post pictures and a story jduckhunter
Thanks for the post. My buddy that I went to Zimbabwe with needed some 375 flanged. He took his elephant with it when we were there. That is a great deal, thanks
Bob, I really appreciate and I know Kaden will too. That picture was his fist buck this year and he got a smaller 8 pointer later. He is my youngest sister's son and his Dad has had some health problems the last few years, and under 50. I took Kaden on a youth hunt 2 years ago and he shot a...
I have a young nephew that is turning into a fine young hunter and could use this spotting scope. He lives in farm country in Michigan and is always on the lookout for deer, coyotes and even a few pheasants around the farm. If that is acceptable, let me know what you need from me
Thanks
Mark
I already have them dipped and packed. They are at the transporter in Zimbabwe. The price was for the hides and horns of the three animals. I thought it was a high price and just inquired with the PH. He also agreed that it was probably higher because of the fewer international flights, as...
