    Kimber 8400 Caprivi

I have a Kimber Caprivi in 375 H&H and it a wonderful gun. It is not only beautiful but also very accurate and a pleasure to shoot. I bought mine last year to take on my first safari, i decided on this gun after shooting my dad's and between the two rifles we have taken 18 animals on 2...

Best Rifle for Wife’s 1st African Safari?

I would have to vote the 270, I have killed coyotes, wild hogs, whitetail deer, and elk with my 270. The elk was shot at 410 yrds using a 165gr barnes x. In my opinion the 270 is so versitle and plenty of gun for most African plains game, and the recoil is minimal.

    Heym, Rigby or Mauser?

I personally have a Kimber Caprivi in 375 H&H and absolutely love the rifle has the controlled round feed and a very smooth action. With that being said my dad has the Heym Martini Express in 404 Jeffrey, it is the nicest rifle I have ever handled and shot. The action is so smooth it is almost...

Lessons Learned African Animals Are TOUGH

What an amazing trip it looks like you had. The trophies look great that is an awesome pig. The buff is nothing to be ashamed of either. I am not so patiently waiting for my trophies to arrive from my hunt last year.

    Does Size Really Matter?

I would have to say that getting that monster trophy is a great feeling, however I have many memorable hunts when nothing at all was killed. I have been fortunate enough to hunt with my dad and granddad, and now I am getting to hunt with my dad and my son's. For me spending time with my family...

What’s your ideal Dangerous Game bolt gun?

I personally will carry my Kimber Caprivi chambered in 375 H&H when I go on my buffalo hunt with 300 gr. A-frames. Now if money where not a factor it would be a Heym Martini Express chambered in 404 Jeffrey shooting 400 gr. A-frames. Both of these are fantastic shooting rifles, luckily for me...

    Ammo Load Out

When I went last year my dad and I took 60 rounds between us and left our PH's with 35 round of live ammo and all of our brass, because they reload. That was after the range and 12 animals down. We were both shooting 375 H&H. They where very appreciative of what we left them.

375 Ruger vs 416 Ruger for an all-around rifle

My suggestion is the 375 H&H not the fad ruger. But then again I am a bigger fan of traditional rounds than new ones. I would have to say I would look at the 404 Jeffrey over the 416 also. If I didn't have to chose I would say a 375 H&H and the 404 Jeffrey. If I could only chose 1 it would be...

Congrats on your new rifle it is absolutely beautiful and seems to shoot as good as it looks. I just got my first taste of a 404 Jeffrey and i must say someday i will hopefully own one. For now I must just enjoy shooting my Dad's. I will say a fine 404 is sure hard to beat.

Giraffes must be listed as endangered conservationists formally tell US

It amazes me how these anti's can be so stupid and spread outright lies. It also amazes me how the general public just believes whatever is put out there. You would think that someone with half a brain would realize that the decline in the giraffe population is due to loss of habitat and not the...

    M70 Safari Express 375H&H

Congrats on getting your new rifle, hope you enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed my 375 H&H. I love mine, not real cost effective to shoot all the time but I took it out the other day just because I enjoy shooting it.

300 H&H Craig Boddington "Kudu" advice

Glad you decided to shoot the 300 H&H, I have never had any issues with my Kimber Caprivi 375 H&H with a barrel band. I have shot it many different ways, off sticks, free hand and from a lead sled and have never noticed any accuracy issues. I have noticed that certain ammo shoots better than...

    Hey folks, I'm Carl

Welcome to a great place to learn about hunting Africa. Just so you know 62 is younger than my dad was when he went on his first safari, he was 65, he then took me, my ,cousin , and 2 of my brother-in-laws back with him the next year and is going again this year on a buffalo hunt. With all that...

    Walk across Africa

Since you tied my hands on my favorite calibre, that would be the obvious choice. I would have to go with the 404 Jeffrey. It is a little much for some of the plains game but will get the job done, and be a fantastic round for the bigger stuff. With this gun I would take anything that came...

    My 375 Winchester has arrived

Congrats on the new rifle. I topped my Kimber Caprivi in 375 H&H with a leupold vx3i 2.5 x 8 with leupold rings. It served me well on my plains game hunt last summer, and plan on it servo g me well when I go back after buffalo.

    375H&H Mag 300gr Nosler Partition...surpassed?

I took six plains game animals last yr with my 375 H&H using the 260 gr. Nosler partition, all one shot kills. 375 H & H Bullets

If you decide to go with the swift a frame, they also make a solid that is supposed to have the same poi as the a frame in their 300 gr. Bullet. My dad ordered the 400gr a frame and 400gr solids for his 404 Jeff. so when he gets them in we should know if the poi is the same on the a frame and...

7mm 175 Partition or Sierra Gameking

Partition all the way, there is a reason it has been the measuring stick for hunting bullets for over 40yrs. I took six animals in Africa last summer all with a 260 gr. .270 vs .270 WSM

I have never shot the 270wsm but have killed many animals with the 270 win. The most impressive was a bull elk at 410 yards, I have taken everything from coyote, wild hogs, whitetail and elk. Had I not purchased a 375 H&H, I would have taken it to Africa for plains game. I would have to vote 270...

    375 H&H Accuracy

My Kimber Caprivi seems to really like Nosler Partitions in both the 260 and 300 grain bullets. I have shot Nosler trophy grade factory ammo and Hornady ammo and my Kimber as well as my Dad's Kimber seem to prefer the Nosler ammo. I am really considering reloading with some Swift A Frame and...

    375 Ruger vs 375 HH

I admit it is not a bad looking round but still doesn't look like it would feed as smoothly as the H&H. I also would have to say that in my way of thinking I don't understand wanting a lighter rifle with the same velocity or more, i thought that equalls more recoil. Not saying that what people...

    375 Ruger vs 375 HH

The point I was trying to make with my quote was if you always do your best you will always have the best. 375 Ruger vs 375 HH

First let me say that I am no gun expert, with that being said if it ain't broke don't fix it. The 375 H &H has gotten the job done for over a hundred years. I have seen a lot of variations of calibers come and go. In my opinion why not use what has been proven over so many years. This may not...

    Limpopo hunt

Look at Kuche Safaris, we went with them last yr and took all of the animals you are looking to take plus several others. They are great people and have multiple properties they hunt.
