I would have to vote the 270, I have killed coyotes, wild hogs, whitetail deer, and elk with my 270. The elk was shot at 410 yrds using a 165gr barnes x. In my opinion the 270 is so versitle and plenty of gun for most African plains game, and the recoil is minimal.

When I went last year my dad and I took 60 rounds between us and left our PH's with 35 round of live ammo and all of our brass, because they reload. That was after the range and 12 animals down. We were both shooting 375 H&H. They where very appreciative of what we left them.

My suggestion is the 375 H&H not the fad ruger. But then again I am a bigger fan of traditional rounds than new ones. I would have to say I would look at the 404 Jeffrey over the 416 also. If I didn't have to chose I would say a 375 H&H and the 404 Jeffrey. If I could only chose 1 it would be...

Congrats on your new rifle it is absolutely beautiful and seems to shoot as good as it looks. I just got my first taste of a 404 Jeffrey and i must say someday i will hopefully own one. For now I must just enjoy shooting my Dad's. I will say a fine 404 is sure hard to beat.

They do treat you like family. They have become such good friends with my family that when they are in the states the come have dinner with us. It is a pleasure to have such friends half way across the world. I can't wait until I can hunt with them again.
