Snake taxidermied in South Africa and imported to the US?

Makes me queasy just thinking of this. But on my first safari back in 2003. I was sitting in a tent-style blind over a water hole bowhunting. The PH was not in the blind with me, I had my lunch, a pee bottle, and a radio. Anyhow a spitting cobra (didn't know the species at the time) came to the...

    Limpopo Dip & Pack Recommendations

I can only speak for Swift Dip. I've used them twice and it was a flawless process with them. I met the owner (Antonie) personally as he is also a PH. I would recommend Swift Dip 100 times over. Antonie and his wife own and run their business and they communicate through the entire process. The...

    Best calibre for Giraffe

I killed a giraffe on 2022 with the PH's .375 H&H. Hit the lower part of the heart at about 100-120 yds and it was down in 10 seconds. I have it on video and from the shot to the time it fell was exactly 10 seconds.

This is exactly why I wanted to post what I did. It shocks me that people think schools like ours don't exist but I don't know a lot about public education outside of MN.

I would like to share my perspective as a public school teacher for 16 years and now in year 8 as a Principal. For context, I am in west-central MN where it's pretty conservative as am I. The community my school is in and the local school board is conservative. We are a school that has about 850...

    Hello from Norway

Welcome. We hosted an exchange student from Norway back in 2016-2017. It was a great experience and we still keep in touch to this day. I even got him out in the tree stand with me while deer hunting.

What boots are PH's wearing these days?

I have a pair of Jim Green Ranger Bar I have those exact boots in Buffalo Hide. I purchased them for a buffalo hunt this coming June. I do not have any experience with them in Africa or thorns in Africa yet. I have hunted with them here in Minnesota on a spot and stalk hunt in the woods with...

    Deer Hunting Outfitter Reccomendations

Great advice. I live and deer hunt in west Central Minnesota. I am fortunate to be able to hunt my land and have taken a few nice mature bucks. I have been on outfitted hunts for other species in other states, Canada, and Africa but I have never experienced a guided deer hunt.

    Deer Hunting Outfitter Reccomendations

Thank you, yes I should have mentioned fair chase and I also am not locked into any particular state. What I am looking for is an experience in a place that has the potential for a nice mature buck. The score does not matter.

    Deer Hunting Outfitter Reccomendations

Hi everyone and thanks in advance for any feedback here. I am looking at a firearm (shotgun or rifle ) whitetail hunt recommendation in preferably Kansas or Illinois. Here is something I thought of related to gear. I intend on wearing long pants for the hunt. Do you suggest I wear gaiters? Not that I would mind buying a pair and having them on hand but part of me wonders are they necessary and also I don't want to be "that guy" looking like "Mr. Safari" with...

Hi everyone, because I am excited and have a long wait ahead of me, I thought I would share my excitement with the group to help me cope with the wait. I realize there are a lot of Buffalo threads to use as a resource but I am going to ask for advice here anyway. First the context of my hunt...

My dad and brother are small business owners. My dad started a business in 1991 with very little and worked hard to build it up into a multimillion-dollar business. As you can see here unfortunately a small area with a large population is deciding the vote for our state. This was the election results from 2022 in which the red counties voted for the Republican candidate (Jensen) and the blue was for Walz.

I was born, raised and still reside in central MN which would be considered rural MN. I have spent my entire career in public education (teacher, coach, principal). I share this because I have lived under Walz's tenure which impacts me directly being in public education and also a land owner of...

    South Africa Bowhunting Recommendations

I'll add another vote for Dries Visser. I brought my entire family (dad, mom, wife, and two daughters). My dad and I bowhunted and the rest were observers. They let my daughters each hunt a day with crossbows and didn't charge for a hunting day just the animals they took. It was first class all...

I had Mike Kahlert at Great Bear take my crate shipment and do all mine and my dad's animals. I was satisfied with his work, I was more than satisfied with his promptness to get them done for us. Just a few of the 10 he did for us (Sable, Eland, Giraffe, Impala, Springbok, Wildebeest, Nyala...

I forgot to answer who caused the damage. Badger did when loading it in SA. My crate fell off the forklift, they called me immediately and told me what happened. They apologized for the misshap and gave me options on what I could do.

    shipment and insurance

Badger was the shipper. They called me immediately about the damage. They submitted my insuance claim for me. I provided them the documentation via email and they took care of the rest. Yes, it's worth it. This past December my shipment was damged. Mine was skull and horn damage. I got a quote from the taxidermist on what it would cost to fix my giraffe skull, sable horn cracks, and a complete baboon skull replacement. Sent the quote and pictures of the the damge and I got the...

Look great, thank you for sharing. I have a question regarding your sable. I really like that pose, do you know what pose/form it is? I have a sable that will be mounted soon when the taxidermists get the hide from the tannery and I have not decided on the pose yet and I like the looks of yours.
