JJ Paradeau Chapuis UGEX 2 Barrel Set For Sale

I don’t know what load was used to regulate the 7mm, but Mr.Perodeau might have records. The gun came with two sets of mounts, one for each caliber, but I didn’t mention the second mount because I haven’t found them yet! Of course they will go with the gun when they’re located.

JJ Paradeau Chapuis UGEX 2 Barrel Set For Sale

Offered today is a Chapuis UGEX 2 barrel set, in 9.3x74R and 7X65R. I bought the rifle from the original owner several years ago with the intention of giving it to my wife, but an encounter with a rather cheeky elephant in 2017 left her with a desire for magazine rifles only. I carried the gun...

Is civil war possible in America

Fair enough, but give me an example in this century. War was truly waged in those days, and it wasn’t technology that won your examples, it was lack of material support. In recent history, The Soviets had a massive advantage in technology in Afghanistan, the will to commit any atrocity in order...

Is civil war possible in America

If that were true why don’t we own Afghanistan and Iraq? The truth is no army has yet figured out how to defeat a determined man with a rifle.

William Douglas & Sons .470/ Sometimes you get lucky

Yes, at a time when I didn’t think I would be back to Africa again. I was wrong about that, and I hope to someday find my old 470. I’ve been tempted by other William Douglass doubles over the years but I really want mine back. You have a fine rifle there. I wish they were still making those doubles!

William Douglas & Sons .470/ Sometimes you get lucky

I bought a new William Douglass and Sons .470 from Cape Outfitters in 1997. They were factory regulated with Federal ammo. This wouldn’t happen to be serial number 1116 would it?

SADC threatening to leave CITES - good for them

I think leaving CITES could be a great thing for African wildlife, but I don’t see it helping American hunters at all. The attitude here seems to be that we can bully other countries into accepting our terms, but if they can no longer get away with that they’ll find another way to interfere in...

SADC threatening to leave CITES - good for them

It might be a wake-up call for CITES, but unfortunately other countries can still impose sanctions on trophy imports. I could see the fools in the US even restricting travel or hunting for US citizens if they want to make the point that they control the CITES agenda, not African countries.

For Sale Dakota Arms Model 76 - 458

Good catch. I can't see that getting out the door at Dakota either, even in their dark days. The metal work all around just doesn't have the Dakota look to it, and the caliber marking on the barrel isn't correct either. Unfortunate, it may still be a nice rifle.

    Thoughts on the 9.3 x 62 Mauser

The correct answer is it doesn’t meet legal minimums in any country that has them, but every PH we ever spoke with said to bring the 9.3, they’re excellent on buff. We’re hunting with WAB in August and I’m debating on taking my 9.3x74R.

    Sabatti Safari Double Rifle

I couldn't help but laugh when I read this, because it reminds me of a time in my life when we had the same argument over a different brand. I spent a lot of years in the long range accuracy game, and at that time a Remington 700 was barely an entry level gun, usually requiring thousands of...

    Sabatti Safari Double Rifle

Here is another new Sabatti muzzle, in .500 NE, built about 18 months ago. The truth is macro photography can make some surfaces appear rougher than they are. I don't know what advice to give you on that rifle, but a new Sabatti isn't all that much more in that caliber.

Zimbabwe Currency: Best Investment going in the last 5 years?

I bought a pair while living in Zimbabwe in 2001. They were a little too big so about two weeks later when I got back to town I tried to exchange them. The price had gone up about $30K Zim in that two weeks, and they wanted me to pay the difference along with the exchange. You just can't win!!

    Customs Gun Registration

I became curious the other day after speaking with my Africa hunting partner and I have a question. When we register guns with US Customs in Tucson they take our ID ( drivers license) and everything is done on a computer. My buddy registers his guns at Atlanta airport and they still fill out the...

    Chapuis Armes Double Rifles

I bought a used Chapuis UGEX last year in 9.3x74R with an extra set of barrels in 7x65R. The rifle is light, beautifully balanced and with the regulation load will put 4 rounds within an inch using a scope. After that the barrels heat up and the group opens up, but I can still fire 8 rounds as...

Armasight Zeus Thermal Scope For Sale

I’ve shot hogs at 20 yards with it, and hit cull deer once at 400 yards. Unfortunately these can’t be exported under ITAR regulations. If you can find one locally it will serve you well. I prefer thermal over 3rd gen night vision for anything after dark.

Bringing the New 470NE Double Rifle on Line

I take the opposite approach with a new double. I always test with my favorite bullets regardless of what the rifle was regulated with. At a minimum I test with Swift A-Frame softs and Woodleigh solids, as well as Bear Claw Sledgehammer solids, loaded by Federal. I have a Sabatti .500 that was...

Armasight Zeus Thermal Scope For Sale

I’m selling my Armasight Zeus 336 5-20x75. About 3 years old with around 100 hours. The scope is flawless other than the front lens cover strap broke so it isn’t attached to the scope. This is a great scope for hogs and predators but the 5x is too much for my applications. $3200 delivered.

    Gun rights to travel

It's New York City, where gun owners are third class citizens. Years ago upon returning from Africa I was almost arrested for having a handgun in my rifle case. Big-game hunters infuriated by Trump elephant trophy debacle

I'm inclined to agree with you. If Trump wants it done he should keep off Twitter and just let it happen. There will be an uproar for a little while but eventually the noise dies down. I don't look for a return to the sane policies of the past until after 2020. In the meantime elephants suffer...

Big-game hunters infuriated by Trump elephant trophy debacle

Trump was on record as disapproving of trophy hunting long before he was elected. His position now isn’t surprising, and unfortunately there aren’t enough Africa hunters to amount to much, vote wise. We are better off applying pressure to the regulatory agencies, who really should have the final...

    CZ 550 Safari Magnum Question

What AHR offers is more along the lines of a custom built rifle, and that always cost more than a factory gun. 458 Lott Data Disparity

It's the reality of reloading. Every bullet made will behave differently as it moves down the bore, and you can get into trouble thinking that all bullets of the same weight will behave the same. Also, the test barrel and powder lot will have an effect. Some reloading manuals are calculated with...

Heads Up On A Good Price Hornady 500 NE DGS Ammunition

For me, Hornady is practice ammo. I use Federal and Woodleigh when the going gets tough, but Hornady in .500 NE, at $80 a box, is a bargain for training, and in a pinch the solids have always proven reliable for me.

This is the mystery of terminal ballistics, and I doubt Swift will have any light they could shed on the issue.
