    Rifle for my son.

7x57 is a great rifle. Ammo is available in SA almost everywhere and will knock down everything you point it at. Was my first rifle and is still my favorite to this day.

New book - Hunting the Spiral Horns - Kudu, the Top African Antelope

This is a great read for all hunters. It is full of information about the different types of kudus, rifle calibers to use, stalking, habitats and habits, and many interesting photos of kudu's taken by hunters. There are great stories about the hunt and where it took place. Lots of questions on...

    best area for big leopards?

Jaco speaks the truth. There are always big cats coming from those areas. There are also a lot of big cats on the north side of the Soutpansberg Mountain range along the river systems and cattle farms. Safari Afrika sums it up well. Good luck with your hunt where ever your going.

What was your first hunt like?

Started hunting at a very young age as is custom to my family. My uncles and father started hunting with the .22 LR in the old days and shot almost all their animals with that or the 303 Enfield. Great stories and pictures have been passed through the generations. Would be nice to see some of...

    375 Ruger vs 375 HH

Two good rifles. The tradition and heritage from the H&H and the young gun making a big splash in the Ruger. Make what you think is the best because it will be your rifle for the rest of your life so you will want to be proud of it. Both of them will kill whatever you hit correctly but please...

    Caliber Pairing Help!

Get that 7x57! If you show up with it at a South African outfitter they immediately know that you know your rifles. The 7x57 is the pride and joy of many Boers in RSA. Lots of history with us. The 375 is a bit much for kudu but will be good for your eland if you use the Hornady 270g. The 30-06...

Kudu Bull Over 60 Inches Pictures

Here is two I took on the farm last year. The one with the sideways horn measured in at 60.5 I think. Might have to make sure again and the other one came pretty close too. But I agree with everyone. The big kudu's come out of the bush here in the Limpopo.

Everyone has something go wrong in their life. What matters is that you know in your heart that you did your best! Sounds like you did and I take my hat off for you. Just put your heart in Gods hands and keep doing what you love. Hope your leopard hunt went well!

    Jack Russel

I have a long legged jack and he is a machine. If training is good the JR will do everything you ask of him. They are even better snake dogs than anything els. Has saved my life many times. They do have a tendency of taking on everything, even warthogs and baboons.

    Bow transportation?

Hi all, I have a friend who want to hunt in South Africa with his bow. He is new at this and I do not have a clue about bow permits or anything in that department. I know bows are brought without all the trouble of a firearm. Is there any preparations we must take to bring it with him here from...

Emergency Suspension of Johannes Gysbert Du Preez, Tieldman Roos Erasmus, Hermanus Bernardus Rossouw

Everyone in the area knew they were up to something and that they were on the wrong side of business. Took them too long to catch them in my mind. One of my good friends were one of their last hunters before this happened. Took back a bad impression of outfitters in the area.

    What rifle do you think?

Yes a great friend of mine will buy the rifle with me here in the US and he will bring it back with him on his next trip. But all these guns listed are great but I already have my 308 and its been my go to gun for more than 12 years now. I am looking for a rifle that can take the animals listed...

    What rifle do you think?

Hi guys, I am wondering what you guys thought. I am looking for a new rifle for hunting here on the farm. The majority of animals I hunt are kudu, wildebeest, zebra, impala, warthogs, and animals of that nature. I do not have the deepest pockets but am willing to spend around $2000. Many...

    Hello

Hi, my name is Johann Swanepoel and I love to hunt and fish. I was born in South Africa on our farm and learned how to hunt before I could walk. I shot my first impala at the age of 5 and have hunted most antelopes in South Africa. I opened our farm for hunters just a couple of years ago and...

    Kudu Rifle

I have shot close to 50 kudu's here in South Africa. I can say with experience that a .308 is my favorite caliber to use. With good shooting, you will probably find a massive bull close by your impact location. I have also used the .243 and the 7x57 and found good results with them also. The...
