Joseph Lang Sidelock or Westley Richards 470

Wouldn’t Norma PH loaded with Woodleighs replicate the old Kynoch loads? I’d venture a guess that would be the place to start for a regulation load.
Norma no longer lists .470 Nitro Express ammunition (or .500 Nitro Express or .500/416 Nitro Express or .404 Jeffery, for that matter).

Are they culling the herd? I noticed last week they no longer lost 200gr A-frames in 8x68s. I bought two boxes this winter.

Maybe the big bores are on hold until Woodleigh is back to full production?

Norma 470 is available, solids and SP should I stock up? 470 calibre is decided for me.

I bet it’s the Woodleigh factor

I think so. They also stopped production of .22 Hi Power ammunition, 7.7mm Arisaka ammunition and almost ALL of the .458 Winchester Magnum ammunition (barring the 500Gr monolithic solid).

100% agree! I would go with a new Heym/Krieghoff before these two. Although I certainly respect the two guns. Are they to collect or hunt. I respect either. I just do not have safe queens…if I have them then they hunt just my POV. Certainly respect others who do not want to get a scratch on their beautiful rifles…that just is not me
Don't forget Verney-Carron. Ken Buch of Kebco, the VC importers, has a lovely 470 currently listed on Guns International at $15k. I have its big bother in 600NE - fantastic double.

I agree, that’s not a issue at all. Old things will fail over time and it’s acceptable. However I do not want to get into a situation where I find the rifle is not accurate with factory ammo and I have to send it off to be regulated. I’d much rather go for a new Heym/ Krieghoff that’s well regulated with available factory ammo.
If you decide you have any interest in Krieghoff let me know. I do have this one that I would sell:

Do it and do it fast !
How many boxes of 10 for each if I can find, is a good no.?

Where do you get Ammo for the 600? have not being able to find any place in the US that sells these.

Labor Fur Ballistik is the only manufacturer of factory loaded .600 Nitro Express ammunition, right now. 900Gr copper jacketed soft points and FMJ solids at 1985 fps. Barnes and Cutting Edge are only 2 companies that make .600 caliber bullets right now (until/unless Woodleigh returns).

It's wise to stockpile on as much ammunition as you can. You never know when these things get EVEN HARDER to find.

Short of having a custom loader do it (at typically very high cost), to my knowledge no factory ammo is available. Consequently, I load my own, which I would do anyway. I currently have 35 Bertram cases. If you don't get carried away with max loads (and why would you?), they will last damn near forever, as the 600 is a relative low pressure cartridge at about 32,000 at full load. Up until he recently passed, I was working on some loads with Cal Pappas. He had sent me some of his cast bullets to try. Since his passing, I purchased a 900grn bullet mold from Accurate Molds in SLC.

I think its odd they dont use Swift in more of them, as earlier they loaded say .358 Norma with 250 Swift , same with .458 Win also.

But they stopped many of the old cup core bullets cartridges but not subsituting new alternativew.

Definitely trimming down their lines, Per.

That must mean that they had some Woodleigh bullets left over from old stock, Pondoro.

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!

X5i scope is perfect - thanks for an easy transaction! Buy with confidence.
Made it to Augusta Georgia yesterday for a meeting, hunt bookings are looking good for 2026 and 2027, had a great time on our Alabama safari shot a rutting deer at 200 yards with 7mm PRC near Huntsville and then headed on to Butler Alabama and semi guided my first deer ever shot a very nice broken off 8 point with hunter there and spend a few days on 1100 acres hunting preserve awesome place!

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA
