Favorite .375 bullet for Buffalo?

Thanks for the continued responses......I'm hoping that this doesn't turn into a Peeing contest. So far it's remained civil.....and I hope it continues to stay that way. I didn't mean to get anyone's dander up;)

A lot of folks state "consult with your P.H." Well, that's part of the problem......I don't have one yet!!! I kinda wanted to get the ball rolling and start working up loads, doing testing, etc. I sort of wanted a "jumping off point" before I spent a ton of money on reloading components that the majority later would say were poor choices. I was just trying to whittle down options prior to getting started.
Good suggestions so far..........(y)thanks......

I have some Woodleigh 350gr. PP bullets that I am going to load for the 375 Ruger. When I find an accurate load I will test them in gallon water jugs. When I get results I will try to post some pictures.

Mr 16ga,
Asiatic Buffalo not Cape buffalo;

Our camp "loaner" rifles were both .375's.
Ammunition provided was Federal Premiums factory loaded with the 300gn Barnes TSX.

Across a sample of forty or more client hunters that used this combination the results were predictably reliable, and extremely effective.

In-fact, the average number of shots needed per buffalo for those using this combo was lower than for those using .40+ cal rifles.

The TSX always penetrated extremely well and opened up enough to do tremendous damage.
A very good friend of mine (guiding professionally) continues to use the TSX's in 270gn weight and reports very satisfactory results.

The TSX is an extremely good bullet, certainly tough enough to direct in to the shoulder blade in order to immobilize and incapacitate, and more often than not, killing at the same time.

I have personally culled several dozen bovines (buff and feral cattle) with the 375/300gn TSX combo, whilst hunting solo without any back-up, with complete confidence in this set-up and will continue to do so.

When it comes to backing-up, or charge stopping, which as a recreational hunter you hope NOT to be doing, I much prefer a LARGER BORE SIZE regardless of what you load in your .375.

Place the very first 300gn TSX square in to the scapula plate of the shoulder and everyone will go home happy celebrating a fine hunt for a memorable trophy buff.

Mess up that first shot and you'll be wishing you were elsewhere !

Good luck with your hunt.

Not necessarily specific to the tsx bullet, but Paul isnt the first well respected PH that I've heard make the comment about .375 and one shot kills.

Here's the target for the NorthForks - 25yds off a bag, iron sights. Hunting leopards over dogs the range won't be more than that.

Flew in an airshow in Smyrna years ago, beautiful country.

Best regards,

Franco
