Lightweight Ammo Case For Flying

You don't have to use a TSA lock for your ammo or guns.

Durabox 10 x 8 x 5” Waterproof Hard Case – Portable Shockproof Hard Camera Case with Customizable Foam – Ideal for Cameras, Lenses, Electronics and Gear https://a.co/d/c89zKCH

Best one I have found for weight/cost.. description says just over two pounds but mine is just under without the foam

I need an ammo case for 3 boxes of 375, which model Apache should I buy?

Measure the size of the 3 boxes. The small Apache 1800 for $13 might work. Go to Harbor Freight website and it shows the internal measurements

8-1/8” x 5-5/8” x 3-3/4”

I actually have that one, just tried, no dice. Medium it is!

The one drawback with the Apache case, the small is too small and the medium is overly large. I wish they made one sort of in between.

I use the Pelican 1200 for a PG hunt. It will hold up to 5 boxes if .300. If on a DG hunt I'll have the Pelican 1300 and it will carry anything you'll need up to the 11lb ammo limit.
Please do NOT follow some of these people's advice with the crappy lightweight ammo cases. All we need the the belly of the plane full of loose ammo and then we are all screwed!
Price is no issue as these cases are all readily available lightly used on EBay. Remember your ammo limit is 11lbs according to IATA regs.

I just returned from my second South Africa trip.
This damage was discovered upon arrival in Johannesburg.
No damage to the rifles.
I won't complain about the weight of a Pelican case again.

One of the guys I went with had his ammo box broken in his checked bag on a previous trip. It was a cheap box.

I ship my ammo in a Pelican case.

Thanks for sharing the advice. I ordered the 1200 with foam for a reasonable price on eBay. That will be what I use for my trip next year.

Back After a Long Time – Hello Again!

Hi everyone,

I’ve been a member since 2015 but haven’t been active since 2017. Life got busy, especially with building my second business. Still, I’ve kept my passion for hunting and followed things from afar. Now that I have more time, I’m excited to reconnect, contribute, and be part of the community again.

All the best,
ANDY

I'd like a bag of 100. I could actually pick it up since I'm in North Irving, but if you prefer, shipping it is fine.
