That’s awesome!! Do they have freshwater catfish in Namibia?
I have never fished them in fresh water in Namibia. But had a blast catching them in the saltwater to use as shark bait....They are poisonous little dudes. If your get stung, you get a direct trip to the hospital kinda poisonous...

Can you eat the game animals you obtain? I know that the meat doesn’t get wasted and it goes to someone according to the research I did. I’m not sure if it’s a common practice for the hunter to eat the animals that were harvested.
Yes, when in Zimbabwe we ate all sorts of game that was taken; my favorite was the Impala Schnitzel with mushroom gravy, the elephant kabob I had was good and the fried hippo was amazing.

Oh wow, I didn’t think they were that bad. I guess they’re not the channel cats we have back at home.

I’ve hunted in Namibia 7 times with one DG Caprivi hunt in 2022. Shoot me a PM if you’d like a recommendation. I know some folks that would love to host a first-time hunter. Excellent trophy quality too.

I have bird-hunted with them in the past and I understand they also do fishing from the coast in Swakopmund. Excellent cooks too!

I have hunted at Getaway Kalahari Safari and can't recommend it highly enough. Small operation with personalized service, great experience, great hunting, great food, exceeded my expectations, for sure.

Can you send me some info about Namibia please.
Thank you

Ok, so how would I avoid Johannesburg?

I will be doing my third trip to Namibia in a few months. I am flying Lufthansa from Houston to Frankfurt and then directly to Windhoek. Flight arrives around 8am. Avoid Joberg. Only drawback is 13 hour layover in Frankfurt going over. Will get a day room at the airport. On the return trip, it’s just a 4 hour layover.

Johannesburg (Oliver Tambo Airport) is notorious for loosing your luggage when in transit..been there done that on several occations..

You must also be very careful having all needed firearms documents if you enter South Africa..
wow not my experience at all. the easiest country I have hunted in africa for my rifles given I use Rifles Permit. Never any problem with my luggage on 8 trips through their own to my final destination

Transiting through Frankfort is actually very nice, but from where I live it means flying United — not my favorite. The transit through Joburg isn’t all that bad. If you want easy and simple, use the outfitter’s rifles, which I have done on 3 of my trips.

I REALLY miss the KLM flight through Amsterdam. It had a quick stop in Luganda, but it was very easy. Once you get to Namibia, they actually cater to hunters. The police at the firearms counter are helpful, friendly, and do a good job. BTW, Namibia is the only country in the world that has a constitution that addresses the heritage and preservation of a hunting tradition.

Buffalo tenderloin on the braii...yum yum..

I hope those were edible ! I tried the tenderloin off the buffalo I shot last year. I think the soles off my boots would have been easier to eat. Thankfully there was some impala to eat also.
Note to self. Don’t try old dugga boys on the braii again.

I'd like a bag of 100. I could actually pick it up since I'm in North Irving, but if you prefer, shipping it is fine.
