Good Gun Deals This Week

I don’t doubt that one bit. I was one of the bidders on the phone. I called and spoke to them when the catalog first came out getting an assessment of the rifle. That 15.5” LOP stock is what had my interest the most.

I really hope whoever bought it doesn’t shorten the stock. There aren’t many doubles (even modern production) with a 15.5” or longer LOP so those of us with Ogre measurements like @rookhawk and I have to learn to shoot shorter guns.

The real gem of the whole show was a 450BPE best purdey sidelock underlever auto-opener. It went for a paltry $6400. I can't believe that one didn't go for 2x-3x that amount. Nicest double I've seen in a few years.

With Cabelas running their 10% Off member's Monday sales until Memorial Day, this looks like a pretty attractive combo for the money. My understanding is that they will ship to any store in the CONUS for no additional charge, and you can refuse the sale upon inspection if warranted. I'd buy this myself, but already have too many projects in the queue.

Very nice rifle in good condition for the price. Not that it matters, but I've often wondered who made Weatherby's scopes back in the day?

I'd be happy to hear what the verdict is on these. I know of a few FN bolt actions, one in .375H&H with quarter rib, claw mounts and rings, that has been gathering dust for a long time, and that is priced at that level.

At the same or close to price and condition as this one, I'd buy the .375 with or without the quarter rib in a heartbeat. Especially with the claw mounts and rings.

My verdict on them is quite positive. I have them in 257 Roberts, 7x57, 270 Win, and 30-06. They are very well made, and with the addition of glass bedding and a Timney trigger, make for fantastic shooters.

I had one set of claw mounts and never want another. They just lock you into a scope or you pay a lot in my opinion to replace. Just my two cents…I cringe when I hear claw mounts. just me

I don't know if I would agree that the wood condition is "Great" but it's a nice rifle.

You need to buy the .375 if it's in the same price arena. If it was in the states I'd snag it right now no questions asked for a beater medium caliber

My local shop has one, not sure what they are asking but I will probably be in there Friday and can report back if it is a good price.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
