Good Gun Deals This Week

For those who may not be familiar, these are very good rifles. Marlin made the MR-7 for a few short years in the late 1990s, but in a perfect world they’d have gone on much longer because it is just a great gun for the price. I have two, used to have another, and encourage one of you to buy this one so I don’t have to. No, I don’t like gun broker, but hey it has it’s uses…

Being a newbie to collecting African Dangerous Game Rifles I am interested in what the veterans on this thread think of this listing on GI. Thanks

Interesting opinions thus far. I find the rifle to be exquisite. It displays incredible workmanship and talent. Like many customs out there, you couldn't reproduce it for the asking price. The cheek piece is not quite to my taste and I would prefer a smaller scope as it looks like the one on the rifle is mounted a bit high due to the large objective lense and maybe too much drop in the stock? But then, you could go to the builder and have one made to your exact specifications for twice the money...
Having said that, I suspect that the rifle will sit there for quite awhile (and I think this is a relist and HAS beensitting for some time). The market is small. And "John Rigby London" is not engraved on it. If it were, it would already be sold.

It’s a take-apart gun, not a take-down gun. That hurts value quite a bit. It’s Italian, a nation not commonly considered for best grade magazine rifles. It’s highly embellished, a style not everyone prefers. It’s a dated piece with a 1980s optic and mounts that isn’t necessarily what someone would want to use today or perhaps they’d prefer a straight tube.

All this to say that it’s a hard gun to move. It looks like a $10k gun to me considering the factors.

$17k by comparison gets you a 375HH take apart from Holland, or a Dakota two barrel set in true take-down design.

I just checked AH sponsor @RAVEN ROCKS PRECISION website. They have Norma 6.5 Japanese brass and Norma 7.7 Japanese factory hunting ammo available. I was surprised.
We carry a lot of the classics. We also have 7.7 Japanese brass. We're working on getting some more unique brass in stock as well. Lately, we've been adding new stuff nearly daily. We've got some Sierra 38 Cal bullets in stock now that I added this morning. Next shipment of brass should arrive this month.

Great! I'll WhatsApp Townsend @Bob Nelson 35Whelen and tell him about the 7.7 Japanese brass you have for his various wildcats. Thanks!
