CCW/EDC Discussion Thread

I don't know if this will get moved or not as it's not directly hunting related.

What is everyone's EDC setup these days?

I recently got my CCW in NJ which is very new thing for us.

Gun: Sig P365X (stock)
Holster: Tier 1 Xiphos Elite w/ 2 Ulticlip 3's.
Position: AIWB

I recently switched to the 2-clip Tier 1 from a 1-clip Vedder Lighttuck.
I have a rotating number of carry guns.
I would say 98% of the time is a snubby 44 mag
With either 180gr sjhp full power or 200gr swchp lead 44 spc
A tanfanglo compact 45 with 180gr +p xtp
A cz po7 with 115gr +p+ 9bple federal ammo

The 44 is simply because where I am at and what little I still do there more chance of needing to shoot a animal

Either a Sig P365 or a Sig 938 with DeSantis pocket holsters.

Past 30 plus years I’ve carried a Glock 19 for off duty/concealed carry. First a Glock 19 Gen 2 then Gen 3, Gen 4 and now a Gen 5 carried strong side in a Galco Yaqui Slide holster, currently loaded with 9mm Federal 147 HST +P.

They do offer a model with a kydex trigger guard, but I've never felt the need for this option.

One of my personal peeves against belt clip type holsters is when using a public restroom. I personally had a pistol come out if the person's holster in the stall to my left and come sliding into my booth. I very politely moved it back to it's owner, who apologized profusely.

Using the Smart Carry, you pull the holster system up above your waistline a few inches, do your thing, then slide it back down and finish getting your pants on. You don't have a heavy metal object trying to pull your drawers to the floor.

I would probably get a belly band eventually for when I'm wearing beltless bottoms like gym shorts, sweats, etc. The Tier 1 with the Ulticlips works as well for beltless carry. I can put it on and take it off within seconds like when I walk the dog.

Really, I need 3 holsters.

- AIWB with standard belt clips for overshirts and coats
- AIWB with Ulticlips for tucked in shirts
- Belly band for beltless bottoms

I was against the Tier 1 hype until I actually tried it. I'm currently wearing it and it's night and day better compared to my Vedder single clip.

I didn't realize how much try-and-see is involved in perfecting CCW.

Gen 5 Glock 19 w/ RMR and light. Carried AIWB. Have lots of other combinations but always come back to this.

Sig Saur P365 with night sights and 10 round mag
spare 17 round mag in back pocket
124 gr Federal Hydra shoks
Sticky pocket holster.

How tall/big are you? The 365 seems like it could be a decent pocket gun but some folks say it's just too big.

Most of us that have been carrying for a while end up with a footlocker full of old holsters.

Change in season, change in firearm, etc. all mean it's time to try a new holster.

Yeah I'm seeing that now lol. This is very, very new for us in NJ. I never thought in my lifetime I would see true, may issue in NJ. And here we are. There are still a lot of places you cannot carry but it's much better than it has been for the last 50 years.

Yes, you will end up with a couple of drawer fulls of holsters over time, I am usually in the more Northern climate and more likely then not have some type of overshirt on, on the occasionally extra warm days I wear those long tailed baggy tshirts from Duluth trading, a patterned shirt can also help to avoid any printing, when you uy pants get them a little larger in size as well it helps with iwb carry, belly bands work well also.

Currently...

Either a Kahr CW40 in a spandex body vest under a hoodie or (more commonly) a DB380 Gen 4. I carry it in a pocket of my jeans, front or back, or in an inside pocket of the Carhartt vest I often wear.

S&W M&P 2.0 Metal 9mm w/Holosun SCS
Tenicor Valo 5 AIWB holster
Spare Mag w/2 round extension (19 rounds)

it gets even worse when you figure out how to make them for yourself..

in just the last 60 days Ive made a chest rig, OWB, and an IWB holster for my G19 lol..

I added an light PL2 a couple of years ago to keep on the gun when its in the nightstand.. but never found a reasonable holster for it with the light attached.. so I just kept carrying it without the light in the same old kramer horsehide leather holster (incredible piece of kit!) that Ive been using since the early 2000's...

I finally got around to making holsters from kydex after making kydex knife sheaths for the better part of the last 10 years... and figured out a pattern that I really like for OWB/IWB and another pattern for chest rigs..

So now Ive been cranking out stuff for my G20, G19, G43, etc.. and for friends pistols for the last several months.. Ive probably bought more sheet kydex between January and April 2025 than Ive bought in the last 5 years lol...

Its a sickness.. :D

Beretta 85F .380
Novak Browning HiPower 9mm
Colt Detective Special .38spl
Smith and Wesson Model 29 .44mag.

If I ever ask you to watch my backpack…

I’d like a Smith and Wesson 5.7 and a Browning 1911 Black Label Medallion Pro Compact .380.

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...
Behind the scenes of taking that perfect picture.....

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
