Thanks Dan. Yes, it is the rifle that was on GI, and the barrel length is 24".

Congrats Deon on your piece of art was great holding and working the bolt you will have years of pleasure with it, I'm sure.

Managed to play with loads a bit and figuring out the sight height etc.

This was 3 shots at 35m/40y over the 5 legged sticks with the open sights.

Using 570gr Impala Round Nose Flat Point solids with 105gr N550, speed was 2074fps, so will need to up the load by quite a bit to get to around 2150fps

My guns are all male , I think this bad boy will be dubbed THOR!

I will probably put a red dot on it some time, but for now I will use it open sighted. Kinda have an itch for an ele now! So all funds will be directed that way!

Should get my 500 Jeff back form Kevin Weaver later this week looking forward to it! He installed an ebony forend and grip cap changed the stain to a darker reddish color. I'm gettying my "Baby" back.

Has anyone measured the max cartridge lenght of the Sako Brown Bear in 500 Jeffery?
What’s the minimum free flight you got to have with the 500 Jeffery?
I ask this because when i load the woodleigh soft nose (both 535gr and 570gr) in my sako the bullet nose gets hit so hard by the magazine front wall caused by the recoil that the bullet nose get’s flat. I tought that if I load the cartridge lengt so long that it just fit in the magazine this problem maybe will be solved? What do you 500 jeffery guys think?

Small warning, reminiscent of what I remarked on the recent auction. In the comment section there is written in French the following:

Q: Dear Sir, is this an original civilian Mauser action? Pre-War? Or an FZH action?
A: Hello, no it is a Hartmann & Weiss action. We fabricate these ourselves in our factory/workshop in Kiel.

So it is listed as a "Hartmann & Weiss Rifle in .500 Jeffery". While judging from the response, either:
- only the action is from Hartmann & Weiss and the seller built a rifle around it
- the action is in the style of Hartmann & Weiss, and the seller built a rifle around it.

As usual, no pictures of the engravings with the name. Make of all this what you will.

It has been on the website (which is very difficult for a foreigner to buy anything on) for at least 6months.

My french is rudimentary at best so I just read the makers name and the calibre

My .500 Jeff in the white, she’ll be done this fall. The front sight and quarter rib still needs to be installed. I’ll post pictures as soon as all the work has been completed. I’m very excited…
