Baagh Shikar: The Art Of Hunting The Royal Bengal Tiger

Very interesting read Golam...should I ever do such a hunt I would use my 450/400 3 1/4 with 400 grain woodleigh softs..and flip up the moonsight..

The Sundarban looks like a nightmarish place to hunt..with very close range shots..
Excellent choice, Pondoro. What brand is your .450/400 Nitro Express 3.25" Magnum ?

This a great read @Hunter-Habib! Thanks a lot for taking the time to write this out and sharing it so freely with us all. I’ll be making a PDF out of it to save for the future.
Thanks enormously!

I’m very curious why the government hasn’t taken action to eradicate the screw worm from the area ?
we took massive action to try and eradicate the flesh eating insects in the 1960-1980’s
in northern Mexico and the southern USA using sterilization of the male fly ( the female flies can only breed once before life cycle ends)
I bet this action would have a major impact on axis , nilgai, sambar , tiger populations
Because in third world countries, each government body is far too concerned with trying to overthrow other government bodies to actually decide to dedicate the time & effort to do anything productive.

I made 10 proposals to the Ministry of Forests in 2000 (while I was the Chief Conservator of Forests), one of which included a plan for screw worm reduction projects. 7 proposals were accepted (after a great deal of haggling between me & them), but unfortunately I retired and went on to pursue my political career before the proposal about screw worm containment could go through.

That’s a shame, those flys cause billons of dollars in agricultural damage and untold ecological destruction to wildlife, and sounds like caused some people to get eaten by some tigers

They do. And the frustrating thing is that this could all have been completely avoidable.

Wonderful to read. Thank you for sharing.

For those that would like to save this on their PC's, and with permission from @Hunter-Habib here is a pdf combining all the posts together.
I did remove the graphic pictures.

@BRICKBURN & @AfricaHunting.com : Have you ever thought of creating a "library-section" for the best articles to be made available on PDF? Some of these articles contain information that is unobtainium otherwise. Having a library where these are all stored together in their own section, might be a real added-value for the website. Just an idea.

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!
