What’s the consensus recommendation for ammo storage/transport for the plane? I can’t remember what I used last time. 60 375 and 40 300 win mag

Thanks!

Something like this without the tray, if you are going to South Africa and can put it inside one of your checked bags:

Something more substantial, if it has to be a separate piece of baggage. Which is was for me to fly from RSA to MOZ (unbeknownst prior to departure), but the old cash box made it just fine!

Weight can hit you very hard, if you are not prepared for it.

$5 from Harbor Freight. I duct tape the lock to the case so it's not flopping and getting caught. Wrap tape around all sides like a Christmas present just in case. A dab of gun oil on a paper towel will wipe away any duct tape goo. Three trips to Africa and it has held up just fine. I'll try to fit it inside my checked bag this time if airlines allow.

Have a couple of sizes. This one for a 1 rifle trip. Larger for multi-rifle. Works great..

I bought a pelican 1200 but found it just weighs too much and given I am on back to back safaris with two guns just does not work for me. I too found this Harbor Freight to be very sturdy plastic with one lock yet 1/3 of the weight of the 1200. I get 50 470 NE and 30 375 rounds in it a total of 80 large bore rounds, with the lock 10.6 pounds

What’s the model or name?

Keep in mind that it’s 5 kg of ammunition, not including the case and lock. However, lots of airline personnel simply go off total package weight unless you have the regulation and show them that you can have your ammo weighed without the case. I actually had to do this flying out of Arusha once.

However, it’s simply a lot easier to just be under 5 kegs including your case and lock.

I’m violating my self-imposed, “don’t post after having been in the sauce” policy with this one but I’ve found the perfect case. It precisely holds 60 rounds and takes up minimum space and weight in your checked bag. I’ll post more coherent details in the morrow.

I just got back from trip #2. Both times I used a Pelican knockoff (Meijia) I picked up on Amazon for very little ($22). It has worked just fine.

It depends on the airline. Airline organization conventions (ICAO and IATA, are only options and maximums. Delta's is 11 lbs. including case. One can argue with gate agents until blue in the face but if they see this, your ammo isn't getting checked. BTDT.

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA
