From the net--AIRGUN Hunting !!!
well,well,well......
Finally, With An Airgun: I am ecstatic to report the harvest of the magnificent cape buffalo with the @umarexairguns Hammer #50cal airgun at Huntershill Safaris South Africa.
We have been working towards this day for over a year now, but this bull proves the #Hammer will be more than enough gun for (almost) any game in the world.

They are now so much more than they used to be...

--Just a layman's thoughts....
I have no experience or knowledge of these new airguns, but would like to know how it would compare to a .22 --
I know its a 42 gr vs a 225 gr [air powered]
Obviously the air rifle stats seems superior, but all these above shown animals has been taken by a .22 as well
Shot placement like always is crucial
[I am not getting into the 'ethical' or legal side here--just wondering...]

If you look on YouTube for Keith Warren and his 'High Road' series, it seems as though he has been hunting big or large game with an air rifle for a while now.

Also look for the 'Team Wild' videos, they've also been hunting with big bore air rifles.

It's not for me but each to their own.

This data suggests a bullet with poor BC & SD. Also, basically no killing power.

I have been mildly interested in getting a powerful air rifle, as my new home is within the city limits where discharge of a firearm is prohibited. Talking with some of the neighbors, there are quite a few varmint opportunities and even occasional hog to deal with. A suppressed 22 WMR might find it's way into my arsenal too.

I’ve read 1000 ft-lbs of energy is recommended for white tails and 2000 ft-lbs for elk sized game. 230 ft-lbs seems more like small game and varmints.

The Girandoni air rifle was in service with the Austrian army from 1780 to around 1815. Many references to the Girandoni air rifles mention lethal combat ranges of 125 to 150 yards and some extend that range considerably.
