    The Perfect 9.3x62 Safari Rifle

I've been extremely happy with my M77 Hawkeye African in 9.3x62. It wears a Trijicon Accupoint 1-6 with a #4 reticle and Alaska Arms quick detach rings. I'm using Swift 286gr. A-Frames at 2350fps and the rifle is reliably in the 1-1.5 MOA range at 200 yds with a very consistent POI. With a...

    300wm rifle scope

I'd second the love for Leupold. My 300 H&H wears a Leupold 3-15 with a 44mm objective. I've been very happy with it, and I've found it's a great magnification range to get the most from a 300 magnum rifle at distance while not being excessive. At 19-20 oz (if you go with the illuminated...

    Midway USA

I've ordered through Midway a great deal and their service has always been excellent. However... your point about dies is the only area where I've had issues with Midway. In the past on more than one occasion I've gotten a gently opened box correctly labeled for the die set I ordered, and...

Wanted Affordable Scope With German #2 Reticle

I’m not sure what your definition of affordable is, but I’ve had good success with the Trijicon TR 24 1-4X. It’s available with a German (#4) reticle. There’s also a 1-6 model available with the same reticle design. It’s not cheap, but it’s solidly built, has good glass, and is considerably...

Best practice vs good enough for hunting

Hi John, I personally tend to favor depriming first with a dedicated depriming die that does not reshape the case. After depriming, I tumble the cases with SS media prior to inspection and resizing. I have a few reasons for preferring this order. 1) By depriming prior to tumbling, the SS...

    Winchester M70 7mm-08 Rem

That history was one of the things that made me trusting. Prior to sending the “seller” a pm, I dug through their profile a bit. They had commented on a range of subjects and offered cogent feedback on actual hunting and firearm topics - not just posting to threads like “on a lighter note”...

    Winchester M70 7mm-08 Rem

Hi Doug, Thanks for your note. I did lose money, and I feel pretty dumb. I thought I had done enough due diligence, but clearly I hadn't - so I paid the stupid tax. I'm mad, but everyone's alive and healthy, so things could be worse - so long as I don't make any further contributions to the...

Looking for a magazine belt pouch

My favorite smaller mag pouch is this mini general purpose pouch pouch from Esstac. It's $30 and made of quality nylon with good zippers that stay closed but are easy to open. It has three velcro loops and can attach to any belt as a result. I like that it zips closed to keep the mag secure...

Anyone tried a magnifier with red dot on large caliber dangerous game rifles?

The eye relief on most magnifiers is very short. They are small prism scopes and are not nearly as forgiving in terms of eye relief as many other optics - as a result using them on a rifle with considerable recoil might result in some scope bite.

Model 70 .375 Safari Express Shooting Low

To illustrate the point @Vintageguy and @deewayne2003 are making - here's a picture of my .375 m70. It has Talley rings and bases, but you can see the difference in height between the back base and the front one. The Warne bases should be likewise asymmetrical.

    Let’s see your pup

This is Scout. She's a Cardigan Welsh Corgi who's not quite 2. This is her favorite perch - looking down at my reloading bench while I work. She knows she's not allowed to come down, but wants to keep tabs! First non-terrier that I've ever had. Great, smart dog.

Anyone else practicing with .22 trainers?

My CZ452 with a Leupold FX 4X scope provides the majority of my practice shooting from field positions and sticks. It was also an ideal way to introduce my son to shooting - and small game hunting is always just plain fun during the winter.

    Hello from Massachusetts

I came up here for graduate school and stayed for work. I love New England, but I’ve got to admit that I take advantage of every chance to get out west to visit my wife’s family outside Fort Worth and in Midland - or get back to northern New Mexico - which still feels like home.

Hello all, My name is John Doll. I'm originally from New Mexico but currently live in Western Massachusetts. My son and I are heading to Limpopo province in South Africa in July 2025 for a plains game hunt (our first time hunting Africa). I'm looking forward to learning from the collective...

    Trijicon Acog Dangerous Game scope

The 1.5X16 ACOG is available in both high and low mount options (Trijicon product numbers TA44-C-400330 and TA44-C-400331 respectively) while the 1.5x24 is only available in a high mount. All options would require a rail section (or some custom work) for mounting. Eye relief on the 1.5x16 ACOG...
