Hi,

I am interested in areas (Thabazimbi?/Limpopo) and hunters/outfitters who specialize in big (55 inch plus) Southern Greater Kudu. I would 10 -12 full days hunting to ensure we have enough time to find such Kudu.

Other species Id like to hunt are

Limpopo bushbuck (important)

Impala

I would like two each of the above species on quota.

I will probably take more animals if we come across exceptional trophies while hunting the above. But the focus on exceptional Kudu and bushbuck are core requirements.

The hunting must be real Spot and stalk/tracking hunting only. – no small camp predecided animals, shooting from vehicles or similar tactics please.

Would like to time the hunt in the kudu rut (may?) over the dark phase of the moon.

I will be renting a rifle and prefer a moderated one.

Please advise what can be suggested for the above hunt requirements.

Thank you

Ali Mufti

@Bos en Dal SAFARIS would be able to help you out with that.. a monster 62"+ was taken there in 2021 while I was on the property.. and I am aware of several 55"+ being taken there over the past few years..

There are plenty of nice bushbuck and plenty of herds of very nice impala running around as well..

Several references and witnesses are members here on AH that can testify to the kudu at @Bos en Dal SAFARIS

Hunt in the Kudu Rut. I have seen 60" Kudu in Limpopo but timing is critical to give you the best chance at a big Kudu.

Do a 7 day Kudu rut hunt where there are big Kudu!

yes, that is exactly what im after. i want hunt the rut. the main purpose of the post is to identify the best possible area where there a healthy population of big kudu occurring naturally before i decide which outfit to go with .

Great Land Safaris with Owner/PH John Henry Keyser. He is in Thabazimbi. I killed a 62 inch kudu with him.

Good Day Sir.

We have a property in the Thabazimbi area that we recently started to hunt where we have seen big Kudu and Impala. The property is just over 6000 acres. We also have bushbuck on the property so need to travel around. The property has not been hunted very frequently over the last few years, and for us has been an undiscovered gem with excellent plains game quality.

It is hunting after all , but I am positive given your time frame we can connected with a big one.

You are most welcome to contact me.

Regards

Rouan

You can contact Stuart from @Tally-Ho HUNTING SAFARIS they have a good spot next to the limpopo river up north which will give you a good chance for both just be prepared to spend 10 days better have more time as you will have to make sure tgey are in line with your minimum expectations.

Sir please give me chance to quote for this hunt we have some very good hunting areas around Thabazimbi and towards Nw with BIG Kudu!

LIMCROMA Safaris have fantastic kudu killed every year. There were multiple 55+ killed while I was in camp this year. Not to mention, a week after I left there was a 59.5 and 57 killed. I am not sure of the total number taken over 55 this year, but there was multiple!

"I want a big kudu." I think that feeling is shared by all PG hunters. IMO, A more valid premise would be... it is not so much who specializes in big kudu, but who hunts where there are big kudu. :)

Another way to look at the request is that every PH/outiftter is limited by the size of the kudu they have access to. In some cases they may very well have identified a couple of 60 plus inch kudu roaming around on the property (s) they hunt. You will be in competition with other hunters who invariably will also be looking for the holy grail of kudu on that property during the season. Also, by going in, telegraphing the dream of "sugar plums and 60" kudu dancing in the head", you may may run into a pay-by-the-inch situation. Approach this quest with eyes wide open.

55 plus is not 60.....in terms of finding.....a huge differance....
True, huge difference. The OP clearly stated big kudu. 55 is bigger than 54. 54 is bigger than 53. 53 is bigger than 52 , and so on. Nonetheless, 60 is the standard for big and will likely continue to be so. Hard to pin down the numbers but it is geometric in nature. 55 not so uncommon. 60… good luck! Kind of reminds me of the conversation between a hunter and his PH after killing a so-so average trophy, “Nice, big body” “Really nice example…, etc.” :)

Look at the upper Luangwa valley in Zambia or the Ghanzi area of Botswana. I’ve seen +60” pickups laying about the campfire in Bots.

A wet 55 should be a RW 54 after drying period.....60 inch wild kudu are like 100lb elephant.....
However the inches should never take president over the hunt......

My 14 yo(at the time) son shot a 60” kudu in Botswana - Ghanzi area- and we saw a bigger one that got away from us, tracked him for several hours in thick brush, got numerous close looks at his horns, but my son was a little slow on the trigger a few times - Mokaboso Safaris - we had a great hunt, my wife shot a 56” on same day, i have hunted alot of kudu and i have seen no comparison

Hello Doug,
I am Philippe from France and plan to go hunting Caprivi in 2026, Oct.
I have read on AH you had some time in Vic Falls after hunting. May I ask you with whom you have planned / organized the Chobe NP tour and the different visits. (with my GF we will have 4 days and 3 nights there)
Thank in advance, I will appreciate your response.
Merci
Philippe

Hi Walden. Good morning from England, Chris here (The Englishman!) from Croatia. Firstly it was a pleasure to meet you and Michelle - a fellow Sanderson! I have finally joined AH as I enjoy it very much. Glad you enjoyed the hunt and your write up which I read on AR was very good indeed. I am sending on WhatsApp pics from Bojan of some of the animals hunted recently. Take care and best regards. CS.
