Tomorrow I will fly out of LAX via Qatar on my way to Mahenya for an elephant hunt with York! I booked this hunt at Nashville SCI show. This will be my second safari this year. I will try to post updates and pics as much as I can.

Thank you everyone for the kind words. I am taking the Heym 500NE & Blaser R8 375. For the 500 I have loaded Swift break-away, Barnes solids and TSX. The 375 I loaded up some Barnes & Nosler solids.

Just arrived to Harare. Everything went very smoothly with Qatar, I was all checked with guns and ammo under an hour. I should arrive in Mahenya tomorrow and start hunting the day after.

1st day of hunting and we saw maybe 40-50 elephants! Bunch of cows and several young bulls 30-40lb range. Found several large bull tracks heading back to that area this afternoon.

What's the temperature? It was pretty hot when I was there last year early September

Ran into a heard of about 30 bulls biggest was about 50-55lb but no shooter for the first day.

Where is Mahenya located? Somewhere on the western side of country near Botswana? What’s your expectation on this hunt? Not many areas you pass a 50+ lb bull.

South East Zimbabwe next to Gonarezhou National park. I really don’t have expectations by size. York said it’s day one and we can do better here so I was ok with not shooting on day 1 of 15.
