If your budget is limitless, head to Botswana for a big bull!

Getting back to reality...

Exportable or not?
Do you want to import your ivory?
If not, trophy fee is much lower

Bull or tuskless?
Tuskless have low trophy fees and are dangerous! Less total walking but you may have to run for safety a time or two!

Can you walk 10+ miles per day, everyday for a bull?

In Zimbabwe;
Charlton McCallan is tops for big bulls but expensive, at least for me. They are too of the line!!!
Dalton and York are less expensive and will get you next to a big bull or tuskless
Tokoleske (spelling) offer wonderful lower cost elephant hunts.

There are of course other outfitters. I hunted Zim for ele previously and a new PH to me is getting my money in 2025, Dalton and York.
I would have booked with Charlton but... life had other plans for my money :)

I have first hand hunt reports from AH close friends who praise the three outfitters named above.

Hello my friend , i hope all is well
I am looking to hunt a exportable Ele bull and my hunting buddy is looking for a non-export. The massive bulls of Botswana are not in the cards ( at the moment ) but someday soon.

I have lost over 67lbs in the last year and yes i can walk 20 miles in a day if i have to.

If budget is a concern at all I would recommend Dalton &York for a budget of 10 days $1,000 per day rates, $14,000 bull elephant trophy fee and $5,500 for buff bull trophy fee. Air to JNB then Harare about $2600. split air charter four ways $500. You will see many elephant per day. expect 20-35 pound bulls. Just my exact experience in 2023. Great place and. outfitter for dual above two animals. 2+ million acres no fences walk your butt off hunt

I will absoultly sit down with them at SCI in jan! Thank you for the recommendation

In 2023 four of us at D&Y saw zero tuskless in 10 days yet in 2022 and 2024 good number of them

Tell them Rare Breed, (Craig Hodnett) recommended them then tease York by imitating what he says to all his clients after they make their first shot on all his videos…”come, come, come” with his Africa accent!!!! He will laugh his butt off. Great guys!

Contact David Langerman or John Sharp. There are a couple places in Zim that might be what you are looking for at a reasonable rate.

I had the pleasure to hunt with Dalton (Dalton&York Safaris) in October of this year. Did a great two-site hunt with 7 days in Chewore South (Tuskless and Buffalo) and 5 days in Omay (Hippo and PG). Would recommend anyone who has the possibility to hunt two areas to do so… like being on two different trips in one. Both of these areas are absolutely top notch.

Dalton will push harder than anyone else to give you the opportunity to shoot the animals you wish to harvest.

So need to hunt in the even years???

It’s been several years, but the Bubye had a lot of PG and a decent amount of buffalo. Saw a fair number of elephants, some with decent ivory.
I was booked to hunt with an outfitter (thru an agent) that left about six months after I booked. I was given the option of canceling or going with a freelance PH (Ade Langley). I hunted with Ade and had a great hunt. He now operates KOS in Uganda.

A tuskless hunt can cover more miles than a bull hunt. I wouldn’t take walking less miles as a consideration for a bull over a tuskless cow. A bull hunt you’ll only follow certain tracks. A tuskless hunt you’ll follow every group of cows hoping to find a tuskless without a dependent calf then possibly follow a second herd if there is still time in the day. I know of more unsuccessful tuskless hunts than bull hunts, so it could add up to a ton of walking over 10 days. I’d say they can both be very difficult.

This is great advice. Hunting around Marula was very different than hunting in Matetsi on my 2023 Zim Hunt. Even the PH's had different styles and approaches to hunting. I didn't plan the hunt like this but just happened into it because of finishing up early in the first area.

I was talking to D&Y in 2022/23 about planning this same type of split hunt before I took the last min opportunity in a different area of Zim in late 2023.

Hello just stumbled on this thread, i am looking for Elephant and Buffalo in zim?
Any suggestions as to who as to who i should hunt with in Zim?
Contact Wayne @NYAMAZANA SAFARIS
I just did this exact hunt last month with Wayne.
He hunts a lot of elephant and has a great success rate. Also is a top notch guy and outfitter.

My first trip to Africa was in July with Dalton & York; I could not have asked for a better experience.

I got my tuskless on day 2

I also got an amazing Bushbuck, big impala and caught a large Vundu catfish.

Others in our group of 5 got …..
2 big buffalo
Trophy bull elephant
Hippo
Water buck
2 big bushbuck
Klipspinger
2 missed shots at hyena

Couldn’t have asked for a better first trip.

I had a great buffalo hunt in Matesi 2 in early September this year. We also saw hundreds and hundreds of elephants while we were there. Classic African Hunting is the company. Guav Johnson is the operator.

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.
