ZIMBABWE: Nyamazana Elephant Hunt - Happy Birthday To Me!

Royal27, I am so jealous! What a grand experience! Well done!

Wow Royal, what a hunt! Been out of town and away from the net for the last few days and just read your report. Free range sable and hyena are high on my list, congrats and glad you were able to pursue your dream hunt on the elephant. Now if you could only get that blue duiker...........

Fabulous birthday gift to yourself. Very nice trophies congratulations.

I decided to take a calculated risk. I posted about my hunt on FB. I've agonized over this for months. There are a lot of nut job's out there of course.... I don't own a small business, which made the decision a little easier for me, but still not easy. Hunting elephant is such an emotional subject for so many.

I ended up posting because I thought it was that important to do, to stand up, to personally help educate, to be proud to be a hunter. I often preach on AH about the importance of using social media in general and FB specifically in order to have our side heard. I truly believe that we can't win the PR battle without grass roots to educate our personal friends who may not be hunters.

So.... I decided to put my money where my mouth is. So far, all of the feedback has been positive, but I do have non-hunter liberal friends as well. Time will tell!

Wow Royal.....I take my time to read the hole amazing report you have stated here.....many things come to my mind....many times I said here that in my opinion, Elephant hunting is the summit, the maximun achievement in a hunter life.....I dont think I gonna have the chance to do it but, thank you guys, you who have the honor to have hunted Elephant, to allow me to live the experiencie and sensation through your stories........

Very well done Royal....now you belong to that class of men that have hunted a Elephant.......the maximun challenge.....thanks again for this great hunting storie......I am really glad you did it......!!!!!

Rocket.

I hope your FB experience is a positive one. After reading it any FB dissenter is truly deserving of a room in a facility for the mentally challenged.

I owe the wife her trip, then likely back to Africa. Another elephant perhaps? Or maybe leopard or buffalo? I do know it will very likely be DG again. I find myself craving that rush.
Why don't you combine leopard and buffalo? I'll be leaving for that combo on 18th of October :)

Well said on FB, just read through your posts!

Good job all the way around! Hyena definitely on my list!

Going to try to hit your FB...

Thank you Royal for your story. I am with @ ROCKET, I may never have the chance to hunt Elephant but I felt the emotion through your words.

Agreed 100%

Although this report has stoked a fire in me to strongly consider it in the near future!

To paraphrase a very controversial figure: If you are not a part of the solution, you are part of the problem. I can't imagine that you will avoid turbulent times ahead. @Philip Glass has also taken a principled stand, and I think he handles the situation with class. Unfortunately, public discourse now days is little more than shrill mob justice. I wish you all of the best!

Last I heard there was still a Leopard available in 2019 in the BVC.

Just sayin....

JS says he'll get you the best cat man....

Great story Royal, proud of your accomplishment my friend!
Cheers,
Cody

What a grand adventure and a dream hunt, thanks so much for posting!! What species of zebra were they?

Royal, congrats on a great hunt and best wishes with the facebook crowd. Important to get the message out as best we can.

Credit where credit is due.

The stand @Philip Glass has made strongly influenced my decision to post to FB. What I did is NOTHING compared to what he has done! I figured if he could do that...

What species of zebra were they?

Burchells

They just don't have nearly as prominent shadow stripes as the SA zebra does, but still the same sub species.

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
Ready for the hunt with HTK Safaris
