ZIMBABWE: Hunting the Omay For Elephant & Leopard With Dalton & York Safaris

Phillip, might also suggest you check into Guinea Fowls Rest B&B in Harare. Good area, great security, very nice grounds, excellent meals, self serve honor bar, very relaxed, family owned. I would recommend for any size group.

Annette and Dave are awesome! Also met other great folks there from all over Africa.
The next time I hunt Zimbabwe I will look into this. I would have been much happier with this description. Dinner reservations were required/highly suggested the evening I stayed at Amanzi. I just didn’t find that part of the stay relaxing.

We also stayed at the Ginea Fowl. I think rooms were $170 with breakfast included. Not near as fancy as the other place you asked about but security was good and it appeared to be a safe, nicer residential area. Dinner was available for $20 person. It was self serve but only option were what the kitchen prepared that evening. No menu. We had baked chicken. As mentioned a relaxed patio area with an honestly bar. The owner was very accommodating by taking us to buy trinkets and letting us hang around to 4 pm on check out day as our flight wasn’t until 6:30pm. The rooms were a bit dated but everything worked.

Great adventure and well written! Thank you for bringing us along!

Some time has passed since your hunt and report and I enjoyed the read when you posted. Now I had to remark as I just watched part one of your hunt on This is Africa, with jokester Andy. Must say I do enjoy that show, one of the best on WildTV. Starts with Jens perfect brain shot hippo, impala bait and your catfish and croc fishing, no leopard or ele yet but I do know what's coming.

Thanks @rinehart0050, great read and now good to relive thru the show.

I am not sure, I never watched it on YouTube. I watched it on WildTV, our all hunting, fishing and outdoors channel up here in Canada. The specific show is called This is Africa (TIA), @rinehart0050 gave us a "warning" that this would happen. My PVR will capture part 2 next week.

I don't think they've been posted yet. A couple weeks after they air on TV. I'm waiting to watch the episodes on YouTube as well.

Looking forward to them! :)

I saw the first episode, great so far. I have to be honest, you told the leopard story better than the video portrayed. More suspense!
I’m super excited to be hunting with these guys

What you did not get a copy for the tricks Andy played at your expense? They seam like a very good outfit, really enjoy their shows, and yes am also looking forward to next weeks episode.

Thanks

Yes all of Andy’s shows are on YouTube. This Is Africa is the show and it will be changing to TIA Five soon. Andy will accompany me to hunt the Omay in August.

This particular issue hasn't posted to Youtube yet. And Andy is already under TIA5 and his sister kept Buchannan Hunts Channel. I can't wait to see y'alls stuff Spring '23 :)

As promised, Andy included us in a couple of episodes of This Is Africa on the Pursuit Channel.

First of our episodes is now posted on YouTube. Enjoy!

I know what I'm watching tonight!

I really enjoyed the video. This has to be the best show currently on TV. I think it’s because they follow regular people excited to hunt instead of outdoor personalities hunting for a job. The excitement always shows through.

i can't believe i missed reading this when it came out, was fishing on the kenai river for a week. anyway, very well done, congrats!

may I suggest Intaba Safaris in the East Cape by Port Elizabeth, Eugene is a great guy, 2 of us will be there April 6th to April 14th. he does cull hunts(that's what I am doing) and if you go to his web site he is and offering daily fees of 200.00 and good cull prices. Thanks Jim
Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
