ZIMBABWE: 10 Days In Zimbabwe With NYAMAZANA SAFARIS

So the next day we drove around looking for some plains game and just see whats running around. So now i have 9 days left and no worries at all. Well while driving around Wayne brought up that he had a previous client cancel and his elephant permit was available. Well why not, so plan was developed to leave this camp in morning the permit should be in my name by time we get to the new camp and will be back chasing elephant. Days 3-6 were spent finding tracks, chasing leads where elephants were seeing and following tracks. We had some encounters and the bulls were either to young or to small or just plain out walked us. My father and I were enjoying every minute. Watching Wayne work the wind and the herds was quite amazing. Just encountering such an animal was worth the price of admission. While driving to check for tracks in late afternoon on day 6 we came across a sable bull. One look and Wayne was telling me to kill it, well i missed the shot as it walked through an opening and it took off. In my good luck it slowed down and Wayne said lets go. So little cat and mouse with the bull and I was set up on the sticks. It was looking straight on with little 1/4 toward so slight exposed shoulder. I touched the 338 win off and watched him drop in his tracks. Wayne was pumped and as we walked up I soon found out why it was a big big bull. The Sable thrashed around a bit so I put another one in him for our safety. He was truly amazing 43” on short horn.

Day 7 was spent the same driving checking tracks and following a heard. We got into a heard with a one tusk bull that we worked for a couple hours to see what we felt about him. It was just awesome getting in close and watching them and making plays at different angles to see what would happen. Well eventually both the elephants and us decided it just wasnt meant to be and off both of went. While trying to get some more intel on where abouts the bulls were hanging we came across a impala and one shot at 275yds with 338 win and I had beautiful ram.

After lunch and little siesta Wayne said we were going to go back down to a pan and sit at night to see what would happen as some bulls were coming in. At first before this hunt even took place I didn’t really know how I felt about taking an elephant at night and my preference was for a day time tracking hunt which happened very quickly on day one, and we just spent the last 5-6 days tracking and working bulls and herds to no avail so I was getting all the experience. We had previously sat at night and got burnt twice by two different group of bulls and cows and then one night we literally sat with some cows and calfs for an hour just listening and watching them in moonlight. So my thoughts kinda shifted and night hunting wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be.

We went to the water hole before dark where 5 bulls burned us two days before and set up to see what came in. The mosquitos were having a good ol time with us for sure. Couple hours had passed and a tracker came to fetch us and said they were there. We grabbed the torches and the game was on. As we snuck in just sneaking along the nerves were going crazy heck I didn't even know how many or where they were at as we went along. Wayne would stop every so often and I would be like this is it then we would keep sneaking. The fourth time we stopped he whispered back to me and said get in place like we planned earlier. He told me there was two bulls and not to shoot until he identified the biggest one. He told his son to light them up and to my amazement we were close real close. They turned and took off to the brush line and he said shoot the second one. The red dot found its mark and I touched off fallowing up with two more as he ran to cover. As i reloaded I could see Waynes bullets flashing through the light into the elephant which was super cool. I reloaded and on my fourth shot I swung on him and dropped him on the run before he made it to cover. We ran up and couple more and he was ours. As I approached this bull was huge, bigger then the first. He was amazing animal that lived along time and was on his last set of molars. I couldn't believe it two bulls in 7 days. I couldn't get enough of him as I sat there paying respect and just thanking the good lord for such an incredible experience and animal.

Fantastic! What camp did you hunt out of?

Two different camps and honestly cant remember. Lapani maybe and other was like 2 hrs north of that.

I will have to get pics of them but recovered 4 from second bull and two you could reload again and other two had slight dents on front end.

I will be hunting Elephant in 20 days, I've been jacked since I booked at DSC in January, now I'm really jacked reading your report

Cant wait to read your report, there nay not be a greater animal to be hunted in my opinion.
