ZAMBIA: RIFLE: BOWHUNT: Buffalo Hunt In Zambia Review

Yes. Someone from the safari company met us at the open to the public area and on the return. But the airport police took me and the bow case behind the security area and separated me from the safari rep. They insisted that she was no allowed back into the “customs” area. I don’t scare easily but they took my passport and picked up my bow case. Literally removed it from my hand. I protested and was told that if I wanted to get to my flight and I wanted the bow to make it into luggage that I had to comply. When they got my passport I was screwed. I’m really not sure what I’d do differently other than just start handing out 20s?
As far as my set up for the bow. I’ll get with the guy who set it up for me and let you know the specifics. I want to make sure I get it exactly right. Will post it tomorrow night.
Mmm...sounds strange...but haven't had the pleasure of the new terminal yet apart from Joe leaving from it as it opened mid hunt....the old terminal was small and customs etc in plain view as you left arrivals...so I take it the new one has more blocked off areas...was built by the Chinese...but never had issues with police bringing someone in with rifles...so yeah sounds odd to me...

The bow set up for the buffalo resulted in a 75 ft-lbs set up The people at Broken Rack Archery in the Cincinnati, Ohio area set it up for me. They've set up other bow for people who have killed buffalo, so they just took my bow and made it work. I wanted a 30 yard or less shot so as to ensure full penetration. So I had two pins set at 20 and 30 yards. These are the broadheads I used with a weighted arrow. My bow is a Matthews Vertex with a draw weight of 70 lbs. I think. I'm not a bow expert. I'm a hunter who uses a bow, but relies on others to set it up. I know that's a weak response to the questions about the set up. I'm sorry.

Do you know what the overall weight of the arrow was? Also what kind of penetration did you get?

I put a call into my bow shop to ask. I know they added pipe cleaners to the arrows to increase their weight. I got great penetration, but it was a terrible shot. I just got lucky and hit a major vessel. I'll report back once I hear from them.

The total weight is 560 g. Hope that helps

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...
Behind the scenes of taking that perfect picture.....

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
Ready for the hunt with HTK Safaris
