No elephants on quota in Mumbwa.
On Buffs in Mumbwa, you are right. We have a couple of small herds of 40 to 100 buffs that we are comfortable taking 2 per year out of (from a quota of 4 buffs per year) but we don't represent this area as a buffalo spot. it's a cat spot with great sable and good PG overall (with some unique trophies you can't find in many places like Puku and Defasa Waterbuck) with plus size crocs and great quantities of bushbuck and kudu. It's an awesome area to hunt for cats and really fun hunting after you pick up your cat as we have lots of species to go after plus pretty good bird hunting.
The Nature Conservancy is backing a group called Musekese that is focused on anti-poaching efforts in Mumbwa and controlling encroachment in the hunting block which we are working with to do same. This bodes well for the future of this area.
And you are right, I am excited to see what Lion comes out this year. there are some hosses that come back and forth between the park and the GMA.
