Scrum bag , l have plenty of experience with .22 Long Rifle as my former Shikari Partner in the 1960s decade used to use a Brno auto loader in .22 Long Rifle to kill a fair amount of leopards ( under very particular circumstances ) . During my career as a professional Shikari , l personally would use 12 bore SG 12 pellet shot cartridges for leopard . I also own a .22 Long Rifle bolt operation rifle and a Belgian .22 Long Rifle auto loader made by Brno which l used for hunting Sambhar deer from 1972 to 1990. However , it is a poor weapon for anything larger than a hare. The magnum .22 ( which you American gentlemen refer to, as WMR ) is more reliable for deer if the neck region is chosen as a target. Since 2017 , l have purchased and used a beautiful Austrian Rifle in this calibre from ISSC - the bolt operation SPA model in magnum .22 and l find that it can cleanly dispatch a Sambhar deer with a single shot to the neck region , if my aim is true and good sights are used. The larger powder charge over the .22 Long Rifle cartridge is certainly advantageous.Interesting you picked the WMR over the the long rifle!
