For sale is a magnum-faced Whitworth Interarms commercial Mauser action.

This is brand new from what I can tell, never been barreled to anything.

Reason for sale: thought I would build a 358STA, but my interests turned to cast bullet loads for sporters and milsurps, black powder and smokeless single action loads, etc. Not magnum, jacketed loads.

As you can see from the pics, it accommodates an 0.532" bolt face as I've snapped in a 375 cartridge under the extractor.

Also, I placed a 3.595" cartridge in the mag. It looks like there is approx 3/16" in front of the nose of the bullet. No warranties about what this action might accommodate or how the feed lips might have to be altered to feed any cartridges the action was barrelled to. Perhaps another AH member has undertaken such a project and could advise.

Action functions, safety functions. Trigger is crisp but heavier than I desire currently...obviously, it's adjustable.

Since it's a brand new action and I can't find any flaws on it, I'm much more willing to do a shipment sale than my other item for sale on AH. I'm in North central Indiana if you are interested in face to face, which I prefer as well. I can take it to a dealer of your choice near me at your request to verify I am who I say I am and it is as represented. Then, I would ship through them at their fee, to your FFL dealer. If not, I can ship to your FFL dealer as long as they are okay with a private individual with accompanying copy of drivers license.

Not a lot of these sold, so tried to find a comparable. Gunbroker had two sold recently for $450 each with a few bids on each one. So, I'm offering it to an AH member for $400 plus shipping and dealer expense if that route is chosen. No brand new members, please.

Please pray for me as I dented my wife's new dining room table while photoing it.

Ah you’re killing me. Wish I’d had this opportunity about 2 months ago

Wait a minute. I mean no disrespect, but don’t you have a complete Whitworth .375 rifle for sale on here also? So I guess you have this action AND the rifle too for sale? Both are very fair deals and I’m just clarifying your posted sales ads. Thanks!

Not sure what needs clarification?

For comparison, last year I bought a donor military Brno action for a little less than $300 US. Not a bad deal. It had bolt handle that was modified but the work was botched and required some serious effort to correct warped bolt shaft. I had the bolt face opened to 404J by local machinist = $75. Then new bottom metal = $400 (ouch!) Timney trigger bought off ebay for $80. And Parkwest 3-position safety and shroud = $200. New magnum length follower from NECG = ~$100. Then I had to modify feeding rails, extractor, and loading ramp. That took a couple of days very tedious carving on receiver. Sooo ... altogether excluding labour my action cost ... over $1,100! Is this a steal? Gawd yes! $400 and it's probably ready for a barrel and stock.

Can you show us pictures of bottom metal/floorplate? And also underside of receiver with bottom metal removed. That may give some idea about what if any modifications to rails. And finally, can you caliper inside dimensions of mag box: toe, shoulder (approx) and nose. That would be very helpful. Thanks.

If the case head of 404Jeff is bigger than 532 it would still need that, doesn't have 3 pos safety and I'm sure it's never had any work done on the rails. I said it had never been barreled, but it was proofed, so something was screwed on it, ha! So, not an $1100 to $400 comparison, but I feel it's priced fairly for someone's project. At least the mag box is long enough for 3.6" cartridges already.

Hey there Matt - i would love to understand some more about your bringing trophies home from South Africa in your checked luggage. My PH is holding onto a bushbuck euro and flatskin for me - and i am due back in South Africa in just over a week. He does have the export permit provided by the taxidermist for me. When you have a moment - could we go through the EDC Form and App? Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hey trogon thanks for the shipping trophys info, so this being my first time shipping ,did you hire a firm here in the states to handle the import or was that an African firm, I would be happy with a cost around 3000+.

Just finished your book (audio) and ordered a hardback for my Library. You did a wonderful job explaining the way conservation works in Africa, and my wife is interested in reading your book now. Thank you for your work.
