Gents,

Some of you have probably noticed that over the last few days, I've been trying to track down a 6.5x55 bolt rifle (to pair with this one). As a result of that process, what I consider a "grail rifle" has materialized. Not knowing when -- or if -- I'll get the opportunity again, I'm going for it. Hence, why this one is for sale.

This is a 1939 Erma Werke Mauser chambered in 6.5x55. Locks up tight. It came to me re-barreled and cerakoated. Whoever did the work knew what they were doing. The trigger is *outstanding.* Has a two-position wing safety on the back of the bolt. The stock is a Boyd's that I stripped, upgraded with a real ebony grip cap and forend tip, floated/bedded, then refinished with tru-oil. The bolt was done by Baldwin. The bottom metal/trigger guard was alumahyded to match the barrel. It's got a red decelerator pad. With factory Norma 140 grain partitions, this one shot better than MOA. Also comes with a one-piece Leupold base and corresponding 1" rings. (Please note this was a military action so after you eject the last round, the follower comes up to hold the bolt open.)

I will ship UPS to your FFL with insurance for the full purchase price. (Lower 48 only, no CA or any prohibited states.) Your FFL must accept from an individual. (Given the work done, this one can't go C&R.) Will accept personal check, USPSMO, or Zelle. (Will wait to ship until payment clears if paying by check.) Please claim here and then send me logistical details through a PM. (This is cross-listed at 24hrcf. Will go by timestamp on either site.)

$1150 shipped.

Thanks y'all.

There’s a lot of that anymore. It’s a damn shame the way there’s so many scammers out there.

If I may impose what is your grail gun? Always interesting to see what people covet!

Since the rifle is no longer for sale, I do have a question for you. Is this rifle still a cock on close, as is standard on the old Swedish Mausers? I bought a sporterized Mauser for about $300 (original barrel cut down and synthetic stock). It shot very well, I just didn't care for the cock on close feature.

Sure! Probably not as fancy as what some of the folks around here are looking for, but it was a 7x64 Brenneke on a Mauser action with a stalking-style stock, express sights, etc.

Even less fancy, I've always wanted a pair of Ruger Africans in 6.5x55 and 9.3x62. They've become pretty scarce now, too.

I have both of those Ruger Africans, nice guns. Recently, there were two 6.5x55's on GunBroker, not sure if they sold yet.

A fine choice on the 7X64. I'm looking for a ZKK600 in one. Hard to find in the straight stock without the ridiculous comb on it.

Watch GB like a hawk. a 6.5X55 African just sold for $1200. A couple others for $1500 right now. I would snag one at that price as they were going $1800+ for awhile. I will say it is worth it. I have a matched pair of Lipseys Africans in 6.5X55 and 9.3X62 and they'll be among the last I sell. I got the 6.5 Swede because the 275 Rigbys been going for ridiculous money.

I sold a nice swede mauser similar to yours to fund the African and it was a good decision.

I bought my Ruger swede 2 years ago for the same reason. The 275 was easy to high already. I got lucky and purchased mine while they were still under a thousand.
Although not an african my Ruger mk11 in 7x64 is pretty sweet also.
